Neve Genesys? we have one and I love it. We use HDN and Avid Madi with the Genesys. anyways Lynx is a step up, a few from 96. If you already are not using UAD stuff the lynx might be the way to go....

get as much RAM as you can cram in that Mac. SSD for boot and PT storage, physically different drives or course, is a great idea.

what type of video file is it? Avid has a new codec standard for video, DNxHD. You may need to convert your video file.
