ok, so i repaired permissions. i didn't run maintenance scripts, not really familiar with that process. today while working, i was getting the spinning rainbow wheel when i hit play on Pro Tools....

thanks, i'll give that a shot!! yes, the reason i daisy-chained is because i ran out of FW ports.

I also have noticed the little spinning wheel appearing when doing tasks in Pro Tools regularly.

haven't tried 7.3.1cs2, but the drives are daisy-chained. could that be the problem?

So, based on what you're saying, is there no advantage to using an external pre with the mbox 1, without going thru the S/PDIF inputs??
