Re: Pro Tools ultimate trial issue

Re: P12 on Mac Mini

Nada. PT requires 8GB and does not run well with so little. You need to look for some very old version if you need to use that 4GB laptop

Re: Ultimate is the only way to have 32+ IN/OUTs?

In case someone new is wondering, PT will only see first 32 i/o presented by your ASIO driver. PT has no way of re-arranging which i/o they are, that needs to be set up outside of PT.

Re: Ultimate is the only way to have 32+ IN/OUTs?

Yes -- HDN for 64 i/o and HDX for unlimited (hardware dependent that is).

Dante goes to PT via MTRX interface.

Re: NAMM new HDX or nothing!!!

Have something in mind? DSP version of AAX can be developed with same SDK than its native version, just that DSP has limitations that the developer need to be able to overcome. Developers don't like...

Re: NAMM new HDX or nothing!!!

Why would you install 6 cards if you got the same out of 3 cards? Of course people are expecting that technology moves forward. HDX is +8 years already.

For comparison, Original HD cards only...

Most probably is, because Avid needs to test the new firmware not yet released to general public

Re: Plugin directory security weakness - check your plugin directory permissions

After leaving the beta team, I have very rarely had a clean PT install. Always just install new veresion over previous one. First launch takes care of plugin versions.

Re: Plugin directory security weakness - check your plugin directory permissions

Whoa, dude.. I had to check myself. I am 100% sure I had not hacked this after 2019.12 install but..

Re: Track Folders Are Here .. !

Pun taken. Last year the dot-one was postponed to dot-three first and then released as dot-five later

Re: Anyone else just about fed up with Avid?

Haha, yes! Round of golf for example, and if you are a golfer one round will get you nowhere.

F.ex when I visited Singapore with my clubs the other year, the round was about 200 USD plus lunch and...

Re: Track Folders Are Here .. !

Of course not, that is the whole point of the folder. I'd rather have folders called A, B, C, D, etc... and within a folder I could care less if the hundreds of clip names were totally random

Re: Track Folders Are Here .. !

Obviously depends on what are you working with. Say you have few hundred clips on your folderless clip list, it is a disaster. In that case you would kill for a way to organize them in any other way...

Re: any recommendations?

AVid does not sell support and update plan reinstatements any longer, so be quick to contact your favourite deaer and ask if they still have old stock left. Otherwise you need a new license.

Re: APFS or Extended Journaled for session drive?

No it does not. It only tells how fast your hardware is interfacing with BIOS/EFI to get system loading.

To make my point, it can take 1sec on BIOS and 1min on system disk, or 30sec on BIOS and...

Re: Pro Tools 2020.1

Exactly what killed RADAR. Closed system is a second class DAW. As much as I hate Windows it is one of the good reasons why PT is on top of the game

Re: NAMM new HDX or nothing!!!

Ya got it rite man.

Everyone needed 16MB with 80486 too, I know I did (when I was old enough to play games with it). Point being it was topping up the computer of its era.

Also had whopping 4MB...
