Re: Best Way to Organise Users Collaborating on a Single Computer

And now you have replaced worrying about multiple users with having to manage/update multiple separate copies of macOS and Pro Tools. That huge increase in complexity seems a bad idea.

And APFS is...

Re: Pro Tools 12 and SSL Nucleus interface issues

This thread was from 4 years ago, I would hope SSL support got on top of this and would know what works.

Re: External Hard Drive for both projects and samples? Workflow Ideas?

And since you are maybe new to Macs... that era iMacs could pick up dust between the LCD screen and glass. Be sure to look for this and clean any dust our properly if it is opened up for other...

Re: External Hard Drive for both projects and samples? Workflow Ideas?

Might be if you need a third internal SSD. But if this is a mid-2011 the optical bay is only SATA II. With this iMac you can get two 2.5" SSD inside already, and they are SATA III. But pay attention...

Re: Will Avid Control work on a laptop?

It *might* on future Arm based Macs that will support running iOS and iPadOS apps on macOS... but that is a might, and Avid may need to explicitly allow it. Otherwise there is no other practical way...

Re: New PC, crackling audio on playback when dragging windows inside PT

Latest GPU driver is not always the best. If stuck it may be worth looking at what they have available for download. But I'd also try swapping GPUs asap.

You do have your Mbox pro dedicated to...

Re: External Hard Drive for both projects and samples? Workflow Ideas?

Great that you have been reading around here looking at stuff. And that is likely to mean that folks will pile on to help you, but it would be a lot easier if you actually described stuff in more...

Re: Quad-core 3.2GHz powerful enough for ProTools?

All the above advice.

And the question is not just for Pro Tools but for Pro Tools with video. What software and computer are you using now? (Are you going to be OK with Pro Tools standard with...

Re: midi set up thru USB-records midi but no sound-plz help

You need to work on how you are describing stuff. You mean you want to play back midi into the Korg and record the audio out.

OK your Korg only does MIDI over USB, no audio interface support.

Re: "Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI"

Dave - this is a thread from 2014 I expect the OP no longer cares.

Not sure why hugolamb7 is complaining on this thread. Or if it has anything to do with HUI or anything else here.

Re: "Pro Tools is unable to communicate with HUI"

Your other question was about cloud storage with Pro Tools First. It’s a little surprising you are spending hundreds of dollars using Pro Tools First. Frankly I don’t know how anybody could miss all...

Re: Latency Problem all of the sudden

This does not make sense. If you were actually increasing the IO buffer then latency would increase. This may still be incompatibilities with the driver and your version of Pro Tools. Again I would...

Re: Latency Problem all of the sudden

You should be able to just change the playback engine IO buffer size in Pro Tools. Was the Pro Tools playback engine dialog GUI saying the buffer size was one thing but it was not? I thought problems...

Re: Fast track is unknown device

I think the 2i2 would be a good choice. Much better IMHO to save other money up for monitors, headphones, microphones, etc. oh and guitars :-)

I think the 2i2 is much more flexible for many uses...

Re: Editing this 9900k build to be suitable for a 10900k.

Grr OK the Gigabyte product selector website needs a little tweak to update socket versions they support but it's still useful. https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Comparison/Motherboard

And here is...

Re: Editing this 9900k build to be suitable for a 10900k.

Obvious question is a 10900K is LGA 1200 LGA1151. LGA 1200 is an evolution of LGA1151, but I'd sure not expect an LGA 1200 CPU to run in an LGA1151 socket.

Gigabyte list boards that support...

Re: Fast track is unknown device

Ha Ben, that quote is exactly what made me think of the sketch.

Yes I realized I had confused myself with 2i2 and think I fixed that in edits I already made. Let me check again.

If that did not work I would try to uninstall ILM and install the latest version supported on your computer. And try...
