Re: ProTools price adjustments from July 1st.

So I am currently paying $99/yr for my Pro Tools subscription.

Am I reading it correctly that the price is going up to $199/yr?

Thats more than a 100% increase in the price - how can that be...

how do I change my avid account email

Why is this so hard to find? I almost missed my renewal payment due to an old email address. An hour of searching and I cannot find any link to change my email address. Is this 2016?

Re: My Artist Mix died today

And just as magically I woke up today and it was working again! Gonna cross my fingers and hope it stays that way.

My Artist Mix died today

Help!

After many trustworthy years, my old Euphonix MC Mix suddenly won't power up. I press the power button - absolutely nothing happens. It worked fine this morning. AC Adapter seems to be...

Re: Buffer latency compensation problem, Mackie Onyx 1640i, PT11 native

No that shouldn't happen. We are talking about a hardware buffer in the ADC. Pro Tools should compensate for firewire latency on-the-fly.

Also, this offset that we see from looping an output back...

Re: Buffer latency compensation problem, Mackie Onyx 1640i, PT11 native

There are hundreds of threads on this issue.

The short answer is that ADC works for plugins and devices that report their latency back to Pro-Tools. 3rd party interfaces DO NOT.

Since you are...

Re: New Licensing

Avid: Are you a Pro-Tools 11 user?

Me: Yes, I bought PT11 when it first came out.

Avid: Well, we want you to pay more for it.

Me: Really? What do I get for it?

Avid: Right now, nothing...

Re: Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 not receiving MIDI from Pro Tools 11.2

All points well taken. However... It might've been helpful to specify that you are hosting VEP on a remote server. ;)

Re: Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 not receiving MIDI from Pro Tools 11.2

At the risk of asking a dumb question... why would you load Kontakt Player into VEP? Just create an Instrument Track in PT and drop Kontakt directly into it.

That being said, I do a lot of VSL/VEP...

Re: AAE 9173 Pro Tools ran out of CPU power

As a developer, I can tell you that the most important thing needed when trying to fix a problem is to be able to reproduce the problem. That means when you post a possible bug, you should try to...

Re: Video of CPU usage WAY too high - part II

Just out of curiosity, do those with this issue have spotlight turned OFF on their recording drives as recommended by Avid?

Re: Anyone using Pro Tools 11 with zero hassles?

PT11 working just fine here - runs all day no problems. The latency of AAX UAD plugins is annoying - but since we only use those for mixing, it does not fall into the "problem" category.

Re: Old sessions

check your Playback Engine settings. Make sure the interface is correct. Our Pro-Tools rig sometimes resets the playback engine to "Apple TV" because there's one elsewhere on our network. When that...

The importance of properly aligned...

Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems

the theory is CPU + DSP > CPU

its more about off-loading processor power than achieving low latency. the trip to and from the DSP precludes any low latency expectations.

Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems

UAD 7.5 AAX might be working better - but still adding 1024 samples of latency vs the exact same plugins running under RTAS/PT10.

Using a playback buffer of 128 samples in a session with a single...

Re: PT11 - UAD2 problems

I have a UAD2 Quad. So far no major problems with PT11 - other than the latency of UAD plugins using AAX/PT11 is about 5 times the latency of the same session opened in PT10/RTAS (at the same...

Re: How was PT10 a transition to PT11 and AAX?

Yep - and they all scrambled to build 32-bit AAX plugins that are immediately end-of-life. Now they're being told AAX2/64 is the way to go. No, really.

Until PT11 was announced, I don't remember...

Re: How was PT10 a transition to PT11 and AAX?

OK - so why bother releasing AAX-32 at all?
It was a dead-end format from the start.

How was PT10 a transition to PT11 and AAX?

So I'm just thinking... how was PT10 a "transition" version? It was supposed to get us ready for AAX... but the AAX plugins that work with it do not work with version 11. This was not exactly made...

Re: PT10 Ram/Memory Issues

If you're running all those VI's directly in Pro-Tools, yeah you're gonna have problems. But as usual, there are plenty of work-arounds.

For starters, you can use the memory server in Kontakt to...
