Re: Hardware inserts Pro Tools

If you(the OP) are going to dig into cabling, then you might leave 1 thru 4(or 1 thru 6 if you are planning for 5.1) as your main outs and setup higher-numbered IO for hardware inserts:o

Re: Preset drum patterns Pro Tools

Here are my recommendations(having done tons of drum tracks both in the box, and played in via a Roland E-kit):
1-Superior Drummer 3(arguable un-matched. great sounds, expandable, fairly easy song...

Re: Maximum Number of Aux Tracks already exist for the current Protools Configuration

Hmmm, this should not be happening(unless you have a boatload of AUX tracks). Not sure this will help, but open Setup>IO and select the BUS tab. On this window, try adding a few dozen new bus paths...

Re: Change Grid Line Spacing in Photo Shop

Grid spacing is usually selected between note values(like quarter note, eighth note, etc). Then meter would be selected as a time signature such as 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, etc). I suggest hitting youtube and...

Re: Use for 003

They don't work as stand-alone. They either connect via firewire or to thunderbolt with the proper adapters. If you want to keep an old system in the closet in case you suddenly need to open an old...

Re: Older version blocking install

Not sure this will work, but its worth a try;
Right-click on Start>select Apps and Features(top of list). In the next window, select Programs and Features(upper right). Once the list is done...

Re: How can I configure buffer size with Realtek?

Follow Top Jimmy's advice, or buy a separate interface for use with PT and MC, leaving the Realtek for Windows-only:o

Re: S3 Soloing causes channel pans to centre bug?

Shooting from the hip:
Problem 1-Cam't think of a reason for this to happen, so trashing prefs would probably be my best suggestion(this is always worth a try for any odd behavior, and this sounds...

Re: Anybody here ever tried mixing on Artist Series Units like they were analog?

While it technical lt will work that way, it kind of defeats the purpose of running a DAW:o I'm an old analog console lover as much as anyone, but I'm not giving up the digital goodness;). As an...

Re: Scaling and GUI issues on win, tips?

I also stick to 1920x1080 here(43" 4K TV over a 27" monitor). I'd love to try the 1440 vertical, but am too cheap to go by screens with that native resolution:o

Re: Ilok or computer?

I'm a bit unclear on the question, so here is my general iLok advice:
1-have a clear way to access your iLok account(if you can't remember all the login details, write them down on a Post-it and...

Re: Why cant we drop an drag out pots ?

On Windows, selecting the tracks and holding Alt+SHIFT while you mouse-click on one of the track's outputs and change, will do to all selected.

A faster way is to select the tracks and move to a...

Re: how to create more Inserts on Channels & Master Fader?

This is accurate for hardware inserts. I suspect the OP wants to use more than 10 plugins. Plus, a single hardware insert could easily route thru several hardware units:o

Re: Midi 'ghost notes'

I've seen this when I had a keyboard that was connected in both directions(MIDI from the keyboard, into PT and MIDI from PT back to the keyboard). Unplugging the return solved that one. Next, look at...

Re: avid I/O balanced output behavior

Reading the manual is the simple way to learn what works and what doesn't work. The manual is also quite clear on the fact that using the balanced IO in unbalanced mode will damage the unit if you...

Re: Peak meter after fader?

To the OP,
1-Since you are just getting started, the default metering is fine(at least until you learn why you want to switch).
2-Use pre-fade metering except in special circumstances(for most of...

Re: how to create more Inserts on Channels & Master Fader?

Indeed, just run thru an AUX on the way to the master. Having said that, if you need more than 10 inserts on a mix, you're probably not mixing right:o

Re: Alternative to Waves MV2?

Re: WTB: Digital ADAT card for Focusrite Octopre Platinum

If your search fails, just grab a Behringer ADA8200(the red box). It sounds as good or better and will give you 8 more outputs as well as the 8 inputs.
