Re: Minimizing elastic audio artifacts

Yeah I'm afraid what you're discovering there is that Elastic is definitely NOT a "set and forget". I've whinged about this countless times on here before. You basically have to go through each track...

Elastic audio "missing files"

I keep getting an error about missing files, which purport to be "audio files" but inspecting the list are auto-generated elastic files (specifically X-Form). So -

I've deleted *all* the tracks,...

Re: Procedure for Maintaining Phase-Coherence - Multi-Mic (Drum Kit) - Elastic Audio

A) I wouldn’t use this method on multi mic’d drums. Sorry should have made that clearer. Was talking specifically about the example given of 1 musical instrument recorded using multi-mics. It’s...

Re: Feature Request: Temporary Group equivalent to Nuendo's Quick Link

Oh yeah I’m in total agreement with you, sorry probably should have made that clearer.

I also imagine being able to select and lasso several faders together for a one-off quick “turn these all up...

Yes AlexLakis (Hi Alex!) reported on this years and years ago...

Re: Procedure for Maintaining Phase-Coherence - Multi-Mic (Drum Kit) - Elastic Audio

Happy to be corrected on this if I'm wrong, but I've *never* found a way of consistently keeping phase coherency between groups of individual tracks for multi-mic'd bass/guitar/etc using Elastic...

Re: Feature Request: Temporary Group equivalent to Nuendo's Quick Link

I have a group called “temp” that I use and update and/or completely replace tracks as and when needed for particular moves. It sort of does the job, if a little clunky.

Re: Entering precise Pan values?

I've also thought this for the longest time. It actually looks like they're primed to be double-clicked as well. (Same as the fader levels). There are loads of anomalies like this that have build up...

Re: "VIEW Software Download Links & Product Details"

This is good to know. Except...don't you have to install ProTools in order to get the Avid Link? This may not be obvious to a new user.

"VIEW Software Download Links & Product Details"

This is another small moan (don't worry, I'm building a massive list of awful bugs for Sketch which I'll report on later), but why is this (attached) considered a normal amount of things to download?...

Re: Playback momentarily stops when editing within playlists

Bemusing to see a post I started 4 years ago is still relevant. Guess it just doesn't bug enough people for it to matter to AVID (or whoever owns them now).

Re: 2024.3 must be literally dropping any moment

I’m still getting it. As someone mentioned earlier it’s usually when an instrument track is duplicated, but it’s inconsistent and very hard to repro, which is why i haven’t bothered with support...

Re: Clip Solo!

Caveat : you have to have "Link Track and Edit Selection" enabled (I think - I never *not* use it but I guess there might be people out there who don't)

No nor me. (Started on 5.1)

Re: 2024.3 must be literally dropping any moment

MIDI notes that don't disappear when copying/duplicating would be a start.

Re: Select Between Markers Not Happening

Yes I guess ProTools Expert should have given an example of post (rather than music) where it's evidently of use.

Re: Select Between Markers Not Happening

I know, it just seems such a waste of programming resources, when we could have [fill in the thing you've been waiting for*] instead. To my mind it seems like the cheapest "improvement" they could...

Re: Select Between Markers Not Happening

Well I'm sure someone will find a use for them, but literally at no point in the last 23 years of using Pro Tools have I thought, "Damn I needs me another marker lane!" Like, not once, ever.

Why...

Re: Perfectly Quantized MIDI looks crazy in Score Editor - Bug?

It's just another example of the fairly substandard MIDI implementation on Tools. If you zoom in on the MIDI editor, and I mean RIGHT in, you'll probably see the notes aren't quite on the money, even...

Re: Insane Frustration With 2023 Versions

Someone may chime in with a better way, but when Tools "gets ill" (and not in the cool sense) I've taken to:

1. Delete Pro Tools prefs (under Users->(your name)->Library->Preferences->Avid, delete...

Re: Insane Frustration With 2023 Versions

Not sure if this pertains to your case but I've had this on and off over the past 20 years(!) and it's almost always a plug-in that's out of date. I think the last time this happened for me was Loom...

Re: Bounce mix reflects bars/beats and time/seconds

It's a bit of a fudge, but here's what I do:

1. Move cursor to start of bounce
2. "Show subcounter" and set to timecode. Make note of time displayed
3. Open "Session setup", go to "Session...

Re: Is there a reliable alternative to Beat Detective?

Any reason you're not using Elastic Audio instead of Beat Detective? Esp for mono or stereo loops. I know Elastic has its fair share of artefacts (many of which I've whinged about on here before...

Re: PT 23.12 won’t boot all the way

Take all your plug-ins out of your plug-ins folder and put them back a few at a time. I've had this problem every time I've installed a new version and/or trashed prefs for as long as I can remember....

Re: Time Insertion that Actually Moves EVERYTHING?

Yes, and related - though this may divide the room, I dunno - "show all tracks" should show ALL hidden tracks, and so should automatically open all closed folders as well, i.e. so you can actually...
