Still a mess!

So I recently bought a new Mac Pro . If the joke of performance wasnt bad enough with the performance cores the latest update has started to cause memory errors.

Luckily I have started going over...

Re: Midi note of failing

Good to know I am not the only one - this has been an issue for year though - I remember it back 6 years ago in the studio - they haven't fixed it but give Atmos support? Hmmph Back to Logic I think....

Midi note of failing

So how many experience this still in Pro Tools. I've been having this issue recently with Spire where the midi of won't work. You stop the track it continues to repeat. It does not happen in other...

Re: Poor performance explained!

Yes agree - I think thats the realisation. I get it - great design in one sense. The marketing though - I never had an issue with a system that reached a point where it became unreliable, I just...

Re: Poor performance explained!

Last section I agree with. It’s easy to measure, Hyperthreading can enable gains, I know this as an IT professional the difference to the servers I work on makes a significant difference which we...

Re: Poor performance explained!

Ahh sorry had to jump in here.

Is this really true? I mean yes having some spare CPU is great but my old i9 MacBook 2019 is fast than these processors. I was running 100+ tracks with no...

Re: Poor performance explained!

You had to stoop that low! Proofs in the pudding the video and tests show real track count. As an IT engineer and very experienced I know the best tests are in a live environment.. Sorry you had to...

Re: Poor performance explained!

Ok we’ve established the facts - i don’t want to create something that goes round and round which I fear I did do. It’s what it is with Apple selling some confusing designs. Hopefully it gets...

Re: Poor performance explained!

You are right on this. I’m actually going back to getting an AMD system (testing them currently). For desktop use I’ve realised that Apple are no longer reliable for performance. I think the...

Re: Poor performance explained!

We are seeing other DAWs handle this so all you’ve said I’m afraid is invalid. I know Cubase users with great performance without any uh cache stickiness.

Re: Poor performance explained!

This is a different processor - and not really the point. We are talking bc about newer processors using efficiency cores that some daws are not using. I might be missing something but it’s...

Re: Poor performance explained!

I’m not talking about “MY” system though so Rosetta and all that doesn’t even come into it, we are talking about the way native programmed tasks running on Apple silicon. I’m talking about...

Re: Poor performance explained!

So by slower I wrote that in haste - I meant that I never seemed to get the performance I did on Intel. But it’s clear why now, the DAWs (including Logic) are running on 4 cores. No wonder my...

Re: Poor performance explained!

I don’t agree that it shouldn't be discussed.

It’s old news but I didn’t realise that some DAWs are able to utilise all cores. Even using a few low performance ones could offer a bit more power. ...

Poor performance explained!

So I run Apple silicon and noticed that only 4 cores are being used.

I understand this is an excuse used for reliability. However in the video below Reaper and Cubase seem to have no issue with...

Hi Marianna,

Thanks for reaching out, I think partly had a headache with initially getting things going but I am there now. I'll let you know if I have any issues. Coming back from Logic after 6...

Re: Came back, but regretting it already.....

Thats not the case,- I've worked in pro tools over the years, alongside and within professional enviroments, its been very hit and miss even on proper HD systems in pro studios. Its worked on very...

Re: Always having to force quit Pro Tools

I recently decided to renew my perpetual license - mistake - back to another DAW. It’s a shame. Vocal editing is great but the rest is crap. Some good plugins but that’s it. Anyone using this...

Re: Came back, but regretting it already.....

Well getting there. I has the minimise i/o latency checked that seemed to cause a lot of issues so I unchecked it - to be fair it does say that setting it can cause clicks on pops.

So I found...

Re: Came back, but regretting it already.....

Ok yes there’s alway one, obviously I mean the AAX version of Spire.

Melodyne though feels flawless, I love just correcting then committing straight to the audio.

Re: Came back, but regretting it already.....

Well that’s good to hear. I am far faster in PT and hopefully whatever’s causing the issues gets sorted. I’m sure I’ll figure it out, Logic always feels a bit if a toy in comparison.

Came back, but regretting it already.....

Sorry this will sound a bit negative but I have had a few years to reflect.

I recently saw perpetual license upgrades are back. So I decided to upgrade, I went over to Logic 6 years ago, but...

Re: Pro Tools and RME ADAT 1+2

I'm not having any luck with this at all - its very bizarre, it sounds like a PT issue but perhaps the way it sees the Babyface?
