I'm thinking of purchasing Logic Studio to make use of the all the software instruments included with it. Anyone know if it's possible to use Logic in the background via Rewire, sortof like Reason? ...

Re: LTO tape backup

No one? OK. Well with some effort I found that the IBM LTO 2 drive I have works with a G4 1.25ghz running OS X 10.4.? and Retrospect 6. It backs up 200gb uncompressed on one $40 tape, and 400gb...

Re: Maximum DVI Cable Length?

I second 'the dude'. I've used the Pacific Custom Cables and they rock for the really long setups under studio floors, from machine rooms, etc. I've got a 66' and a 33', coming from a ATI Radeon...

Re: Protools 24bit and 16 bit compatablilty quest

The only way to do it would be to make a copy of your session at 24 bit. This would copy and convert the preexisting files to 24 bit, and then all future tracks would be recorded at 24 bit. The way...

Re: Mach Five...How is it?

Yeah, I'm interested in the timing, too. I printed an audio track of a quarter note kick track coming from Reason and it was dead on. No midi delay or latency, or whatever. Nothing like...

Re: Digi drivers for OS X

I don't think it's Digidesign's responsibility to allow other companies audio to pass through it's hardware. If you disagree, vote with your dollars. They will change their policy if they start...

Re: No WARning on Delete Track in PT6?

For me, running PT 6 on a G4 dual 1.25ghz on OS X 10.2.4, it DOES ask for a confirmation when I try to delete a track with regions in it, as it did in previous versions. It acts exactly the same as...

Re: Apogee AD8000

Speer, are you sure he's using the AD8000 in 888 emulation mode? Perhaps he's really just using it as a converter... In that case it wouldn't respond to ANY pt commands.

Question for anyone......

Re: Anyone using PT 6... fill us in

I'm curious if it's feasible to use PT6 on OS X for Beat Detective/Groove quantise stuff, and switch back to 5.3.1 under OS 9.2 for more plug in compatibility. I'd like to take advantage of some...

Re: Bounce handler cannot keep up

This happens to me occasionally. The problem is usually corrected by just bouncing to another drive, even the internal drive.

Re: fibre channel?

Got it. Thanks for the help. I wonder if SNS systems will work under OS X? We'll see, I guess. Any news from them on that subject?

Re: SDII, WAV, or AIFF?

Not an expert, but I know that SDII files cannot be used for 96khz audio. They only go up to 48k. Thus, the switchover to .wav files.

Don't know anything more than that about the three file...

Re: fibre channel?

Thanks for the tip. Are your setups 1gbps or 2? Do they work off of copper cables, or fibre optic?

When you dealt with Rorke, was it for a fibrechannel setup or something else?

Lastly, do you...

Anyone using a fibre channel setup? I'm thinking of linking my two control rooms using a two-seat fibrechannel system. Probably from Rorke.

Anyone have any suggestions as far as what to get (1...

Re: Amplitube or Amp Farm.....

I would check out whether the plugs are RTAS or TDM, or both. I'd want TDM because of the lower latency, and because you can put it on any kind of track (aux or regular)

The version of Amplitube...

Re: What is the best way to delete MIDI Duplicates?

Here is one way:

Go to the midi event list, and scroll down until you see two events with the same start time. It seems that the second of them will be grayed out. Delete the second one (or, I...

Re: Genelecs (45-50% off list brand new) at e-bay
