Re: Regarding true 48-bit pathways

In resonse to Mcgriffey:
I'm not sure you quite understand peoples complaints, most people welcome the sound of digital recording, that's not the problem. The problem is in the processing of the...

Re: Backup devices for the future?

I have the VXA1 tape back up system with retrospect and it works great, no problems except media cost. Compared to the dds4 stuff it's a rip off, a 20 gig tape is $50.00. When I first bought it the...

Re: Help please. who does data recovery?

I found this company called accurate data recovery, a guy named Robert got my data back for me for cheap, like $600.00. Here's the problem though, these companies have no way of knowing whether or...

Re: Mixing in Protools vs Consoles - Mix Magazine May 2002

I'm too lazy to mix on an analogue console anymore, but I also don't decieve myself, an analogue console has depth. The digital is fine but the processing and mixing have a way to go yet

Re: Pro tools real fault

Thanks for all the great replies, I think I got my answers. The frustrating part is just not knowing. Now I can make some better decisions on which way to go from here.

Pro tools real fault

WOW, I just figured it out. Everyone's so focused on the mix buss not sounding right and maybe their right but I think I just discovered the real problem for myself. I recorded a acoustic guitar,...

Re: Pro tools real fault

The Mackie minus the eq happens to be a pretty neutral very clean sounding board, much more true than an SSL, probably not as true as the 9000 series though. Iv'e done my homework on the Mackie...

Re: Pro tools real fault

I'm not really an expert on this stuff, I wish some programing expert would come on line to clarify all of this. Is this new rumored mixer that keeps a 48 bit path going to be the answer? Will I be...

Re: Pro tools real fault

Well why does there have to be any truncation at all? Isn't this dithered feature to passify us,or is it the true answer to the problem?

Re: Pro tools real fault

I'm not using the mixer function in protools, or I should say the summing section of protools. I'm going direct out and merely adjusting the volume in protool, does the new dithered mixer in protools...

Re: Pro tools real fault

I'm not sure you read my post alltogether. My point was this was not a mix issue at all, just bumping a fader in protools ever so slighty using the direct outs into an analogue board caused harm....

Re: HD 192 bass-lite? Impedance mismatch?

This definitely needs to be figured out. I was ready to sink the extra cash, but woah what goes into Pro Tools is what should come out atleast in terms of frequency response. This is a basic...

Re: The "Sound of the new HD-system" thread

Question for D Clemenston,

In reference to your comments about clocking. What happens when you lock up a 2in24tk machine to pro-tools HD? Is it better to have the 2inch machine chase the pro-tools?

Re: Motu 1296 as good as HD 192

So does that mean when I use an RTA plug-in that I'm getting latency in the milliseconds as oppose to the TDM version which would only be samples off? The RTA's use the host processor. I was under...

Re: Motu 1296 as good as HD 192

Ok, from what you heard? But who out there really knows, who's worked with the new DP with the 1296 interface, and compared? Protools owners get up in arms when someone mentions an inexpensive native...

Motu 1296 as good as HD 192

I just spoke with a salesman from motu and he emphaticaly stated that the motu 1296 sounds as good as the 192I/O, and that the internal components and overall design were roughly the same? He said...

Re: How good is PT sequencer?

In reply to 2 milliseconds is not very much. Well thats 2 milliseconds just going into the system, however when you play it back it could be 2 more milliseconds, and if one note fires 2 milliseconds...
