Re: Volume automation technique

Using alt+shift when clicking locks the breakpoint level so it only moves horizontal, might help a tiny bit.

Re: Volume automation technique

Switch to volume trim view, drag volume trim down. These angles will be 90deg but you can grab the lowered breakpoints and move them inward to create a slope (or cmd+click on the lowered portion of...

Re: MTRX Studio & HD Native

I could be wrong, but I think you need DADman 5.4.1 or higher and Protools 2020.3 minimum.

Re: delay compensation difference between native and HDX

The mixer is always DSP. So if you put a native insert in an aux, you are going dsp (input bus) -> native -> out another bus so dsp again.
I believe the added delay is exactly the hardware buffer...

Re: slight quick-punch "overhang"

Is it better when you turn on 'blue mode' on the recording track?

Re: Output Dither

To answer your original question:

No, there is no dither automatically applied.
The only automatic dither is when using 'save copy as' and using a lower target bit depth than the original...

Re: Error -20021

These are not all on the same track I presume?

Do you guys use bypass automation? I know some plugins change there reported delay when bypassed so it might freak out the delay compensation when...

Re: Automation doesn't follow fade adjustment.

This issue is still here in PT 2020.5 and affects al types of automation, including inserts and panning. For reference it has bug number PT-257832.

Such a basic editing bug rendering 2019.10 up to...

Re: Pt 2020.5

I'm seeing this as well in PT 2019.6 now, send levels pulled up or down by an entire selection (so there are only breakpoints on the outer edges) can be ignored when playback is started near those...

Re: Feature request : 7.1.4 bus

Atmos beds ('fixed' channels) go up to 7.1.2, hence the PT limit.
If you want to address the individual speakers you'll need to make objects. Same goes for the surrounds, for the beds there are only...

Re: MacPro 5,1 Video options for pro tools 2019

No, the offset is for the entire video chain. So if you hook up your tv to the RX580, but the tv itself takes 2 frames processing time you'd have to set it to 8qrt.
If you have some audio processing...

Re: MacPro 5,1 Video options for pro tools 2019

You can use the Radeon, but save yourself the hassle and get a $100 Blackmagic pci mini monitor. It will always give you a fullscreen video output via SDI or HDMI at the proper video framerate with...

Re: Pt 2020.5

Does the automation issue also happen on 'regular' automation or only on a vca?
I drag down volume automation from clip edge to clip edge a LOT on background fx

Re: 2020.5 - Invalid Fades Destroys Two Sessions

This seems to be the same issue as http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=405902

Please report to Avid. It's a long running bug and still seems to persist.

Are you using iZotope RX7 Connect by...

Re: Premiere Pro AAF import Issue

Fastest and easiest is to export as OMF, copy all media to folder (with plenty handles). Don't embed audio to circumvent the 2GB limit.

AAF's from Premiere hardly ever work around here, and even...

Re: 2.5 inch FW800 drive

Bear in mind the (spinner) disk speed decreases a LOT when simultaneous reading and writing, I've seen it drop down to 10~15MB/s...

Re: Is there a plug-in that lets you mix surround without Ultimate?

This is only from an HDMI source.

Personally I would buy the Ultimate version if you can make money from it. Otherwise I'd get another DAW that can do surround for a fraction of the cost and just...

Re: Lexicon PCM Native Reverb presets scrambled

Re: NMacPro 16 Core or 24 Core

As far as I can tell this is very plugin dependent. Some plugins only use a single core for 40% as shown on the MacOS cpu meter (not the Protools meters, they are useless). But stuff like izoptope rx...

Re: NMacPro 16 Core or 24 Core

The 24 and 28 core have lower base clocks compared to the 16 core. But all 3 have the same 4.4 GHz turbo boost for pushing single core speeds (as reflected in the same single core geekbench scores)....

Re: MTRX and JBL 708i/Crown DCi

But isn't it transported via Dante at 24bit so you will loose the benefit of the 64bit dsp?
I'd do it in the Crown, 40 bit is plenty. Unless you have a lot of processing going on in the DAD and the...

Re: 2020.3 on Mac Pro 5.1, High Sierra?

I just installed High Sierra including the firmware update without any issues on a 5.1 mac pro.

SSD installed on a regular sata port, no spinner needed.
GPU is an old Radeon 5770 (non mac gpu's...

Re: Urgent: Serious issue with clip effects

Re: Avid: new HW?? HDX 8 years old!!!

It would be nice to see a combination of native and dsp mixer. I have plenty of routing paths with native plugins only. There is no need for the mixer here to be dsp going from aux to aux, just let...

Re: Multi Mono links gone when session moves DSP/NATIVE

Are you also seeing this when all channels are linked or unlinked?
I've never experienced this, but I never link only part of the channels, only either all or none.
