Thanks… when I mean I/O isn’t an issue, I mean that I don’t really need to use any outboard gear and that my recording needs won’t really go beyond stereo. 2 in and 2 out would suit me fine.

That's the prescribed method for resetting the internal power management firmware (controls the fan and cooling system). Don't know why it should help...maybe it resets other stuff as well....

I'm with you on the McDSP and Sonnox plug-ins - they're capable of sounding better in many ways than Waves - you just need to learn how to use them. They're not as obvious as the Waves...

Hi there... To clarify... I contacted Digi tech support via the AVID/DIGI support centre customer portal thingy on the 21st of this month... the case number is 00960802. Still not heard back yet...

Ok... I have tried everything in the general troubleshooting guidelines apart from setting up a new user account, because it is a clean installation:

This is a virgin installation of OS X 10.5.7...

So have I! I think mine originally came with Pro Tools 6(??) It's only in the last few versions of Pro Tools that things have gone wonky, which is what is making me think it's the software support...

You're welcome... one other point to mention is that it's a very good idea to get the boxed product for McDSP (rather than just a download). It's a bit more expensive, but you do get a pre-loaded...

I own both the Sony Oxford and McDSP plugins. The Sonys are very good for certain things and the McDSP are very good for others :-)

I will always choose the McDSP EQs and compressors...
