Re: Too Many Tracks

Thanks a lot! You mean that you'd create an empty session and then import the inaccessible tracks (as well as you remember which ones they were) into that? Import does not enforce the 128 limit on...

Re: Too Many Tracks

 Agreed, especially at the time when memory, fast disk space, CPU cores are plentiful & inexpensive (PT is the only DAW as far as I know that does this). Avid's messaging (warning) about this...

Re: Too Many Tracks

So what happens with old sessions where you have more than 128 tracks (some of them inactive)? You can't open them? You have to pick and choose which tracks to open or PT just picks the first 128 and...

Re: Pro tools 2019 !

Yes. From the sw developer point of view, assuming PT has proper sw architecture, it is one number in code they have to change to increase/decrease track counts. Stability should be build in and the...

Re: What You Would Like To See In the Next Release?

Just a very basic question (for many years): Have they fixed all ADC (automatic delay compensation) issues yet or do you still have to come up with workarounds and manually type delay numbers in some...

Re: AVID: One change that would help us like you a lot more.

If Avid did not have the reinstatement fee then they, too, would have to put more effort into delivering bug free versions with new and working features to entice customers to upgrade (and pay them...

Re: Prefs were gone!

Yep, the problem is not the battery (you'd have to reset the time and date etc if the battery does not work)

Re: Workaround for lack of side chain delay compensation

Let me pop in and see if the discussion topics have changed:

ADC still not working (basic delay compensation), has it ever?
CPU errors
MIDI timing still off
Preferences need to be trashed...

Re: SOS Article on Pro Tools Most Requested Features

It doesn't matter and, as others have pointed out many times in the past and now, all DAWs can be used with DSP from other manufacturers (even PT). PT competes with multiple other DAWs out there as a...

Re: SOS Article on Pro Tools Most Requested Features

I do not want to put PT / Avid down more than they deserve but the reason they have to do everything "at once" is because they rested on their laurels for all those years while others introduced all...

Re: SOS Article on Pro Tools Most Requested Features

Well, there is a difference between a product that was maybe ~5th on the list of popularity and a DAW that its creators like to call "industry standard" and for which many professionals pay thousands...

Re: Where is 12.8?

As predicted, the subscription model has not changed the way Avid releases software in any significant way :-)

Re: My $.02

:-) I like the passion!

But really, I did not say I have not used PT for 5 years but I did indicate that I prefer other DAWs nowadays and rarely use PT. I also did not say that nobody wants to use...

Re: My $.02

I rarely use PT anymore and I am much happier with the way other DAWs (just) work and are more stable. S1 workflow is excellent and the support for ARA is just beautiful.

PT users should by now...

Re: Upgrading audio interface

I'd say forget the DSP based interfaces unless you really want to tie yourself to a specific hw/vendor or you must have their plugins (and, accordingly, pay for the privilege to have a single source...

Re: AAE error -9173 stronger than ever on PT 12.5

There are at least two "huge" (quoting Trump ) problem areas that sound to a professional sw architect like they are rooted in bad architectural choices and are hard to fix without major...

Re: ProTools Feature Requests (all versions, not just HD) - perhaps official topic?

Yes and the problems with X-Form have been discussed for years with no results or improvements (http://protools.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Update-X-Form-to-the-latest-iZotope-Radius-algorithms/81879-3779) ...

Re: Any way to do Melodyne without real time transfers in and out?

Better integration with Melodyne has been requested since 2009:

Re: 2016 Letter to AVID from PTHD user

Basically it looks like PT HD should introduce features that other DAWs have already in their "vanilla" versions (except perhaps the DSP part but those are also available from other DSP based product...

Re: When can we realistically expect 12.5.1?

:p For some fun, go to just about any web store that sells PT and you'll find: "According to Avid, a large benefit of this new approach will be more frequent updates, new plug-ins (which the company...

Re: 12.5 Elastic Sound Quality

+1

Basically 64 bits provides you with pointers that allow the code to point to many more bigger chunks of data. If your program is type safe (properly abstracted code) then the conversion is...

Re: 12.5 Elastic Sound Quality

Good work! Now let's hope Avid, one of these days, will act on this. Unless PT is total spaghetti code with no documentation, it should be very easy to find and change the API call(s) to iZotope...
