PT 11.3.1 worked with El Capitan 10.11.3.
The 10.11.4 update however broke it.
Cannot select any Outputs anymore.

So I guess it's byebye for me finally.

Shouldn't be a problem. I rather think there was no particular reason to test your iMac, if before and after models are qualified. From the specs your iMac can surely handle PT11.

Essentially, there is not need to master for -1dBFS or commercial sounds.
Like compression is an OPTION, not a must.

Mastering is usually a process to keep multiple songs on an album on equal...

I have the same encasing SK-3500, works great! :-) DSB just means it has several interfaces connectors
I bought mine in Black from an ebay seller with a 1TB...

Any Mac with a FireWire port is good for ProTools.
you need a second HD for recording. Recording to the System drive will do no good.
External FireWire HDs need an Oxford bridge chip 911, 912, 924,...

To my understanding: no.

you downsampled to 44kHz. so you need to upsample you session again, which MIGHT be a big difference compared to your original 88kHz files.
