What\'s the good Firewire 400 card for Mac Pros?

So it seems I've got too many bus-hungry firewire 400 devices. Hard drives are on an 800 port but got both an audio interface and Canopus ADVC-110 firewire video interface that need 400 and don't...

Re: JBL Monitors

Own the LSR4328p's and the sub. Incredible. Superb imaging (the tweeters are amazing) and flat tight bass response. Room correction is very handy and the remote is a very nice bonus. We have...

Ahh gotcha, so it sits on top. I was wondering if you sunk it inside the desk at all etc...
We'll see how it goes, the jog wheel isn't bad at all for scrolling, we just have to get used to using...

Re: 911 > HELP NEEDED ASAP! > ONE track won\'t play

Make sure Dynamic Transport is turned off in the Options menu. It's a new feature in 7.3 that I've found severely degrades performance and with an Mbox already being on the brink of the buffer...

Re: Couple of suggestions for D-Control design

Thanks Glenn, any chance you could provide pictures of how your Kensington ended up looking after installation? I've been playing around with the idea of doing that myself. They're still less than...

Re: Using 10.4.10 and 7.3

I recently bought a new 8-core Mac Pro which came with 10.4.10. I tried installing M-Powered 7.3.1 on it but Pro Tools would not launch, just bounce.

The mac would not accept my 10.4.8 for...

Couple of suggestions for D-Control design

Loving our new D-Controls:)

Need to throw out a few design suggestions:

1. The script tray needs to be one inch higher since it hits the joysticks in the surround panner. Big oversight imo....

Re: HELP with my DSP, there is never enough!

If you haven't installed all the latest Waves PT7 updates etc, you will get those error messages even though you have plenty of DSP left. Also you could try using RTAS versions of Waves and let the...

Re: Still Not Entirely Happy With SYNC HD

My gut tells me that you really should not be running Loop Sync through the Apogee. I know you're aware that the word clock connections on the AD16x are not loop sync but that seems to me to be the...

Re: Word Clock: Apogee Big Ben vs. Digi Sync I/O vs. UA 2192

Some mic pre's can click randomly due to component problems. I've seen this with high end-high gain gear such as Avalon from time to time.

Also, buying an expensive word clock generator will not...

Re: Digi Monitors x Dynaudio BM6A x JBL LSR4328P

I had to reply. I LOVE the LSR4328p's. I've had a stereo setup at home which I love and just recently set up a 5.1 system at work. Also incredible. The only thing about the 4328's is they don't...

Re: Mac Pro/HD3 boot-up problem

Question for the original poster or others with this problem:

Are you running any Gefen or similar DVI monitor / signal extension products?

There is an issue with certain DVI products that can...

Re: Can\'t Browse Xpand Patches anymore

Re: Protools 7.3 LE STILL BAD MIDI BEAT CLOCK

I tested using the M-Audio Firewire 1814 MIDI out, into my Emagic Unitor8 / AMT8 interfaces which were splitting the clock to all 16 outputs. This was on a MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz running OS 10.4.8. I...

Re: Protools 7.3 LE STILL BAD MIDI BEAT CLOCK

I am using Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3.1 and could not reproduce this problem. I looped 1 bar, 2 bars etc while transmitting Midi Clock and my XBase09, MPC2000xl, TR303 (via Doepfer Din Sync convertor)...

Re: DFH Superior with Pro Tools

I use Superior with PT a lot and yes, there is no internal sequencer so you really do need SOME sort of midi controller to program much of anything. You could always draw in midi notes one by one...

The PT 7.3.1 cs1 update fixed that problem I believe. They are up to cs4 at this time... Have you installed any of those updates?

Re: AES/EBU transfers

Agreed... There IS a difference between 25pin-25pin analog cables and 25pin-25pin AES cables... As long as you have word clock connected, lightpipe should be just as good, just don't kink your...

Re: Sync IO vs. Sync HD?

That's what I've gathered as well but it still doesn't make sense to me that Digidesign would make no mention of this new box despite the fact that it is shipping and seems to have replaced Sync...
