Chain Firewire devices to 002R?

Any opinions on chaining FW audio interfaces such as a Motu 828 to an 002R? Does the 002R need to be powered up to chain additional firewire devices? Anyone have experience with this?

I just successfully installed PT 8.03, up from 8.01. Progress, right? Thanks for this suggestion!

However when I tried again to install PT 8.04 I got the same problem with the blinking 1394...

By 8.03 full installer do you mean the 8.03 update? Is there more than one version of 8.03?

Uninstall everything? I was not aware of this requirement. I always try to carefully follow install instructions. Do you mean to suggest I completely uninstall PT8.01 and then install 8.04? But...

I recently added a few utilities, winutilities and microsoft security essentials. I did the same on other systems I have with no ill effects so far.

I have consistently found that nearly any intel dual/core2 unit, 2.4 Ghz or better, 4 GB ram min., biggest hard drive you can get internal, firewire and/or eSata ports should work fine.
