I am getting the error "Physical RAM is running low. For better performance, install more RAM."
I am running MacOS Mojave 10.14.3, 32GB RAM, Pro Tools 2018.12.0 and it started when loading EW Play...

Re: Dual Xeon Scalable LGA 3647 workstation. Anyone?

Well, yet another update for this thread.
I returned the iMac Pro as it didn't work for me at all, sadly. The i5 on it just wasn't up to the task.
I ordered a MacBook Pro i7 2.6GHz 6-core 16GB RAM...

Re: MacBook Pro 2018 15-inch i7 2.6GHZ 16GB RAM

I apologize for double posting. But this is just an update that I followed the advice and canceled my order for the MacBook Pro 2018 i7. However, before I go to Windows (for lack of Mac OS options) I...

Re: MacBook Pro i9 throttling and performance

I would like to know if the OP has tested the MacBook Pro i9 with Pro Tools and what the results are, please.

So, no more audio interfaces from Avid for Pro Tools (Standard) then?

Hi, everyone,

I bought a new MacBook Pro 2018 15 inch and realised I need some adaptors to keep working with my Avid MBOX 3 Pro (TB3->TB2 and TB2->FW800 and FW800 to FW400). But then I went on to...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

What are the heavy VIs you are using? I am in the same situation. Got an iMac i5 2017 and it didn't work at all for me. Then was going to build the same PC (i9-7940x) but ended up returning the iMac...

Re: MacBook Pro 2018 15-inch i7 2.6GHZ 16GB RAM

Hi, Chris,

Thank you for your reply.
I was going to build a PC (with an ASUS WS C621e SAGE with dual Xeon LGA 3647) but what put me off was Windows 10 - that is a great operating system but for...

MacBook Pro 2018 15-inch i7 2.6GHZ 16GB RAM

Hi, everyone.
After spending a week with an iMac 2017 i5 and having a less than acceptable result, I ordered a MacBook Pro 2018 15-inch i7 2.6GHz 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD - the only one they had...

Re: Dual Xeon Scalable LGA 3647 workstation. Anyone?

Hi! Thank you so much to everyone that replied!
I just want to update the thread. I have decided to stay within the Mac universe for now and wait a bit for the new Mac Pro next year.
For now I will...

Re: MBox Pro 3 + 2017 iMac + Thunderbolt->Firewire adapters + latest drivers = succes

This is great! I just bought an iMac 5k 2017 and will have to do the same! Thank you so much!
Do you know of any Thunderbolt 3 dock that has a firewire port so we could connect the MBP3 straight on...

Re: Dual Xeon Scalable LGA 3647 workstation. Anyone?

Thank you so much, fantastic insight!
You made a great remark on minimum base clock speed. That is key. Otherwise you can have 1000 cores and not be able to run a single instance of a heavy VI. And...

Re: Dual Xeon Scalable LGA 3647 workstation. Anyone?

That is great to know, actually, thank you so much!
So the ideal would be no more than 6-cores running as fast as possible?
Would maybe a i7-8700 (6-core) be the best bet today? I mean, based on...

Re: Completely Frustrated!

My question may be absolutely simple, but since this once saved me after chasing basically the same problem, may I ask: did you try different firewire cables? It sounds stupid, but believe me, I was...

Re: i7 Builds - Specs and Results

Hi, is the OP still updating the i7 builds? Maybe someone could post a known good i7 7th and 8th generation build - and why not i9 and Xeon, maybe including dual processors if anyone has such build...

Re: Dual Xeon Scalable LGA 3647 workstation. Anyone?

Minimum latency for a given load is related to the capacity of a given CPU to process the DSP in real time and keep the audio buffer fed.
When comparing CPUs with the same clock speed (frequency)...

Re: Dual Xeon Scalable LGA 3647 workstation. Anyone?

But aren’t different VIs allocated to different cores according to the system load? This would only mean distributing the processing needs into smaller parts to be able to reach the processing...

Dual Xeon Scalable LGA 3647 workstation. Anyone?

Hi, everyone.

I am thinking of either building a dual xeon scalable LGA 3647 workstation for Pro Tools (based on ASUS WS C621E SAGE) or getting one ready (HP Z8). I want the best possible...

I had the same problem and in the end it was the MBox 3 Pro original firewire cable that was defective. Try changing it.
I posted my case in this thread:

Re: MBOX PRO 3rd Generation Keep disconnecting: a solution

Re: MBOX PRO 3rd Generation Keep disconnecting: a solution

Thank you very much, JRyser.
After installing PT11 and having problems I found the new MBox 3 Pro driver 1.2.0 but it still didn't solve my problem. :(

Tonight I will be again investigating this problem...
Does anyone else have this...
