Re: Using an external SSD drive with Pro tools

Look on the drive case - it should have a model number on it. Maybe you still have the box it came in? Or the receipt from where you purchased it? Those should have the model number. From what I can...

Re: Creating Track Groups & Follow Globals ?

Try dumping prefs and try again?
It's always been ticked (that I know of) in PT11HD.

Re: Graphics card on the way out??

I'd say the initial card is on it's last legs. One last test before you relegate it to the trash heap - put it back in and see if it keeps doing the same thing. It could be a case of the edge...

Re: Creating Track Groups & Follow Globals ?

You can't untick it in the create group dialog window/box?

Re: ProTools 2018.4 Ultimate and MacOs Mojave

If one can get an initial release of HS somehow then all that is needed is the combo updater for whatever follow-on HS one wants and apply that. I've done that for previous versions of OSX.

Re: Plugin Alliance E & G channel issue

Thanks for checking through your stuff - it means I'm not crazy or that it's just my system. The knob behavior isn't as consistent as the button behavior but it does happen; it also extends to the...

Re: What size hard drive???

Rugby seems to be catching on here in the US - while watching the just finished WSOP Main Event Poker (No limit Texas holdem) tourney they had commercials for a rugby 7's tourney (male & female...

Plugin Alliance E & G channel issue

While demoing the Plugin Alliance SSL branded E & G channels I ran into a problem. With the plugins on an insert say I make a change to the state of button; for instance I change the eq from say...

Re: Graphics card on the way out??

This is happening on the system that's in your sig file right? I'd go the simple route first - clean out all the dust bunnies inside. Then remove the video card and clean the contacts on both the...

Re: Using an external SSD drive with Pro tools

Don't know what the specs are on that LaCie drive but make sure that the drive speed is 7200 rpm if it's a spinner. Hopefully it's an ssd. What type of connection are you using between the computer...

Re: Pro Tools 2018.X on OS X Mavericks 10.9.5?

I was going by what BScout wrote. He wrote that PT2018 used metal which was available in El Crapitan & above and going from that that would leave people out who had the stock video card in their...

Re: Can not install PT 10 on Snow Leopard. Help aooreciated

Any reason you did a new partition on the machine?

I would boot into the original partition and then do a verify disk & repair disk (if necessary) on the new partition. Then do a repair...

Re: iMac Pro and Virtual Instruments Drive

I would still put sample libraries on a separate external ssd or a 7200 rpm spinner

It would make system restoration a lot easier to have the samples and system s/w separate. Also you have...

Re: Pro Tools 2018.X on OS X Mavericks 10.9.5?

So this means then that anyone with a cheesegrater Mac Pro is out of luck for running PT2018 unless they change out their video card? Standard cards that come in those machines don't support metal...

Re: What size hard drive??

Please explain further or provide a link for what you say. No matter how one slices this loaf of bread you're still pulling bits & bytes through one pipe and if things are dense enough throughput is...

Re: What size hard drive???

If you work a lot with samplers like Kontakt and EW Play 32gig of ram is a good thing to have. Also with more ram, and a PT version that supports it, you have can use the ram as a disk cache. I have...

Re: What size hard drive???

Please explain how that is so (unless you're specifically talking about PT11HD). PT11 has nothing to do with that; large internal ssd's are the driver here.

Re: Heads-up on Plugin Alliance SSL E channel

Been getting mine regularly although my July one dropped to $25 and zero explanation from their support on this (yet). I would assume you've both purchased stuff within the last 12 months from them.

Re: Heads-up on Plugin Alliance SSL E channel

Thanks for posting this.

Hopefully I'll get a reply to my support ticket asking about why my voucher level dropped when I had enough to stay at the $50 level. Several people over at Gearslutz have...

Re: Heads-up on Plugin Alliance SSL E channel

If you read my correction in color you'll see I made a mistake in the wording of my original posting. The numbers are correct for the time period between June 2017 and June 2018. PA does NOT publish...

Re: Create new audio tracks - spinning wheel

Anything else running while you're working in PT?
Any wireless stuff going on?
Do you have AppNap turned off for PT?
Do you have...

Re: Create new audio tracks - spinning wheel

Yes - drop the 4 gig modules and get two 8 gig modules as long as they're the same spec as the existing 8 gig modules. Again that's the key to success and stability - all ram of same size and spec.

Re: Debilitating Stutter Freeze

Depends on how much I/O you need and how much money. And also what you have in the way of ports on your computer. Generally RME is considered excellent with stable drivers but not cheap. Somewhat...

Re: Create new audio tracks - spinning wheel

For best performance it's always been the thing to have identical ram modules in the slots. Mac Pros have triple channel memory with slots 1 and 2 each on their own channel and slots 3 & 4 sharing a...

Re: Conflict between ProTools and Cakewalk Sonar

So it looks like you'll have to run as admin which shouldn't be a problem as a lot of programs require one to do so.

As far as the error message you got unless it's in English there's a lot of us...
