i'm not sure if i fully understand what you're asking, but in my experience you can't directly route bus1-2 out to an external box. Busses are for use within protools.

try 1 - 2.5 db's @ 12-15k with a low q.

i always unmount my drives first. and i don't have a sleep function enabled (i'm on a desktop)

i just got the digi002 recently so most of the hd's died while using...

I'm not sure about mac os settings that you may need to reset... but remember to make sure that the autosave function is still turned on in preferences!!!! that has gotten me into a tough situation...
