According to Avid's website, Windows 8 is not an officially supported OS. Only Windows 7 is supported. I hope some other users have additional input. Good luck!

Not normal by any means. My PT 8.0.1 will load in maybe 30 seconds. You should take out all your 3rd-party plugins (onto the unused plugins folder) and see if that has an impact on your loading times.

Re-read what I explained above. Forget about ANY program at this point... if you don't have 64-bit drivers for that 002, you can't use it with anything...

Just crunched some numbers... looks like you could assemble a pretty capable central hub for your studio based on SSL for a reasonable amount. ~$7,300 CAN will get you an Xpander5 card, an AlphaLink...
