Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

The question posed was a "this or that" question. Choose the Editor as it is now, OR one on an iPad. So by that phrasing it is interpreted to mean leave the editor in PT or remove it and make it only...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

I would have ZERO problem with Avid making an iPad app(editor) that ONLY ran on the iPad and no other tablet, phone, laptop, desktop ect..... As long as they left the editor we have NOW alone. I...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

I'd venture to say you are correct. But the question posed to us was relatively clear as an "Either-Or" question. I don't know WHY they would pose such a question, surely they could not really be...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

Ok, so as I understand you, you are saying choose between an 11R editor that can be used on the same system as Pro Tools, or an 11R editor that is only usable on an iPad. I just want to make sure we...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

Could you clarify a bit more?

Are you saying choose between having the 11R Editor as a part of Pro Tools OR have it as a separate application which can then be used on the SAME computer as Pro...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

Windows 7 will reliably run Pro Tools 8.0.5, I used for quiet awhile before jumping to PT9. I use to run PT 8.0 on Windows 7 back when Windows 7 dropped and it was not even supported by Digidesign...

I know its not MUCH, but, Sweetwater is offering the PT LE to PT10 upgrade for $399 instead of $499 at the Avid store. :o

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

I know man, that makes you wanna go take some college course just to save the money on PT :D Image if the current trend holds true at 1 paid upgrade a year at about $300 per crossgrade X 4 years =...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

Yep, but many of these reasons are historical. Because Pro Tools was a better product (it wasn't called Pro Tools then) many people just stuck with it even when Pro Tools was surpassed in ability (in...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

Ahh, cool. They dropped $100 off the price of the LE8 to 10 crossgrade. It was $499, thats where people get the $500 figure from.

In fact the price from LE to 10 is still $499 in the Avid...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

Its also to Avid's advantage to include some version of Pro Tools, just look at the new PT Express, that is a way to get the 'foot in the door' so a certain % of people will buy Pro Tools upgrades...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

Yes, very useful.

Hurray! I have been begging for a digitech whammy model since I got the 11R. It would be nice if they allowed it to be used in the WAH block as well as FX1 & FX2 and maybe...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

You can already "kinda" do this. If you are using Pro Tools and the 11R on-screen editor, just like how you can save the entire rig, you can save individual effects settings/presets, and recall them...

Re: OK, so here's a serious question for Avid regarding "openness"...

Have you checked your online Avid account? You may have a download in there. If not, you can always buy a replacement disc, they are like $15 on the Avid website. OR, if you have another PC you can...
