Re: Do Lacie Drives have the Oxford Chipset?

I forgot that I had chosen the legacy firewire control driver, and that is listed as LSI 1394 legacy driver on all my 1394 busses.
So the lacie d2 quadra can still have the oxford chipset. Let us...

Re: Hard Drive Setup

Go with the Glyph drive instead. I just learned that my lacie d2 quadra does not have the Oxford chipset. This is perhaps why I have been getting click and pops using PT 8.3.
The lacie d2 quadra (in...

Re: Hard Drive Setup

It is a good thing that you do not have a firewire port on your labtop since you need to use a firewireport with a texas instrument chipset, so you can always install that in your pcmia card.

Re: Hard Drive Setup

Sorry about overlooking that important detail. I would suggest buying an external firewire harddisk then and use that as an audio drive. One with an oxford (911) chipset. But on a fw400 and not a...

Smile Re: Hard Drive Setup

The audio drive needs to be on a separate partition, and that is the case you are describing, so I would say it is ok. However it is best if it is partioned as a primary partionon and not as a...

Re: Can you run an interface, and an external hard drive through one firewire port?

You are absolutely right Teeblack. Has had me baffled too. It is very confusing. As you say M-audio recommends to use the built in firewire controller for the audio interface and an extra firewire...

Re: Is an external drive superior to a 2nd internal drive for recording with Protools

I can see why you ask since in the very PT manual on page 50 (PT7) Digidesign writes and I quote: 'Dididesign recommends qualified FireWire drives...' . On the same in another section they also...

Re: Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.3, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

The Harddisk should not be connected to the same port as the Fw410, so that is why you have had problems before. The solution is to use the onboard firewire port for the harddisk and use a separate...

Re: Update 8.03 causes problems running win7

I agree but I am also going to upgrade to 8gb of ram very soon, so this was part of the plan. But I cannot see why core 2 duo processors should be considered as little cpu power?

Re: Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.3, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Pro Tools M-powered does not support recording to a eSata drive, so the errors you are receiving are probably caused by this. Only firewire 400 and 800, and SCSI are supported when using external...
