Re: Insurance and warranty for rig....where

I'll give a very high recommendation for Joe Montarello of the Recording Studio Insurance Program through Capital Bauer.

This is the real deal- covers everything from gear to liability to...

Looks like I'm going to be doing a festival coming up on a Venue and i've never used one before. I've downloaded the offline software to take a look and I've browsed the forum but still have a...

Re: Making a M7CL sound worth a damn

As Roland said, the M7 isn't a great board, but you can do good work on it.

I've used this board pretty extensively and have found the weaknesses to be in a couple places.

1. The clock. ...

Re: Recording beyond 2GB

You're right- my math was off. I was thinking stereo interleaved files. Since PT records mono, I should be fine... I'm not doing many tracks (only 6- discrete 5.1 on site) so disk space isn't the...

Recording beyond 2GB

Running 7.3LE here on a Mac (os 10.4.11). I have a show coming up where individual pieces could run over 2 hours. Even running a 24 Bit, 44.1KHz, that is running right to the edge of file size...

Re: Strange click and pop problem

Bump

Still have problems. Turns out the clicks are not only on digital inputs. It happens on ADAT, SPDIF and Analog inputs. I just use converters for 95% of the recording I do so I noticed it...

Strange click and pop problem

Getting very rare and random click and pops on the ADAT 2 input of my 002R. I've fed the unit with different signal from different converters/consoles and used different cables. Clocking is always...

Re: PT 7.3 LE on an iBook?

I'll be honest and say that I use very few plugins. Being that I do mostly concert recording, I may put a little verb (usually something like Dverb- eech...) to put a touch of ambience on something...

Re: Converting S/PDIF output to AES input

Not a problem- a transformer will help, especially with longer cable runs, but it is not going to make a huge difference. My entire rig is AES-based. I run in to all the various LE and Mpowered...

PT 7.3 LE on an iBook?

I use my 002R for recording concerts- in other words, it must be completely stable.

I've been using 6.9.2 on an iBook 12" (1.33GHz w/ 1.5 GB RAM) and it has been 100% stable. I probably have...

Re: 6.9.2 Core Audio issues...

Re: 6.9.2 Core Audio issues...

I'm on the latest version of Itunes, Sonic works great with the internal sound card, but not the 002R. Those are the only core audio devices I have for my laptop. I don't own anything else.

I'll...

Re: 6.9.2 Core Audio issues...

Thanks. Core Audio Manager is now connected. It and the Audio Midi setup at least seem to be talking to each other.

I can at least get some audio through the 002R now... However, it isn't good...

Thanks- I'll give this a shot tonight when I go to work.

Re: 6.9.2 Core Audio issues...

Re: LDC mic suggestions...

Tons of great mics out there and I'd suggest that you could get more mileage by purchasing a couple mics that add up to $2K rather than a single mic. The one I haven't seen mentioned here is the...

Problem with ADAT Bridge

So I've been put in charge of making this system work at my work- I have some experience with new LE systems (I own a 002R), but not TDM and certainly not an old system...

Here's the setup:

6.9/7.x questions...

I'm about to get a session that was recorded and edited in a 7.x (not sure exactly which...

Re: Any of you guys using SAMPLITUDE for mastering?

Absolutely... I have been using Samplitude and Sequoia for about 5 years now and will never look back. Watch out, once you start using it, your PT rig may not get so much use

Re: Recording a BIG choir

I would go with 3 omnis across the front of the entire ensemble. Space so that they divide the group evenly. I'd start at about 15 feet out and probably 10 feet high. Make sure that individual...

Fat chance of that happening... He builds VST plugs only. That said, he isn't even developing anything new under the digitalfishphones name anymore. He's taken a job as a programmer for Magix and...
