Re: Mix Farm WITHOUT Mix Core?

Well, you're not the first person to ever think of that since a Mix Farm is quite a bit less expensive than a Mix core but you'll need either a Mix Core or a D24 to make it work.

Re: Charles Dye\'s \"seven course in mixing\"??

Hey all,
I no longer have access to the T1 and the server the sessions were being hosted on so, I'm sorry to say, the sessions are no longer available. I haven't received any emails requesting the...

Re: Drum Editing Techniques/Tips

What! No more drummer jokes on the DUC??? Ah, man! I refuse to capitalize the "d" in the title "drummer", however.

Re: Drum Editing Techniques/Tips

Thanks for the tips! I'm pretty legacy in these departments. I'm still on PT Mix and using SampleCell TDM. The thing about SampleCell (the PCI cards with TDM module) is that there really isn't...

Re: PT M-Powered I dont get it??

What do you mean by "Digi swore up and down"? Who said what, where??? They give away a Windows and Mac version of v.5.x that both run with no Digi hardware. Of course, they're not full-featured...

Re: PT M-Powered I dont get it??

I don't believe Digi has made any such claims either. As far as I understand it, Digi is a hardware AND software company. They don't give away Pro Tools software. They bundle it together with...

Re: Hooking up a MixPlus system

Yeah, I was also wondering what he meant by "expansion" and was thinking he means an expansion chassis. If that's the case, you will put the expansion chassis's controller (PCI) card in the Mac and...

Re: plugin reverb for vocals, your favorite?

For vox I usually reach for Lexiverb (Mix) and use one of the "Plate" presets as a starting point. I like ReverbOne a lot for rooms but prefer Lexiverb for plates. These days I'm pretty sparse on...

Re: To \"Big Ben\" or not to \"Big Ben\"?

Sounds like you're making the right decision. I'm curious to hear what you think of the Rosetta 800 when you get it so it would be great if you could post your findings with that as well. Thanks!

Re: Drum Editing Techniques/Tips

Oh man, I have Roland V-Drums and great drum sample libraries but only because I'm not set up to do live drums in my studio. All the time I've spent editing midi. AAArrrggghhh! I can make it work...

Re: To \"Big Ben\" or not to \"Big Ben\"?

Hi Annas,

I'm surprised you didn't find that much of a difference using your Mix system with 888/24s. I know you said that Apogee support said you were connecting everything up correctly but I...

Re: ProTools with OSX-- Are we going backwards??

Is there anything in the Answerbase about disk partitioning? I don't think you need to do it anymore and if it doesn't say so in the Answerbase, you probably don't need to do it. My experience has...

Re: To \"Big Ben\" or not to \"Big Ben\"?

Yeah, I'd like to hear from Dave C. as well to get an answer on whether or not an external clock source *could* improve the sound of digital audio using a newer Digi interface. He does say:

"The...

Re: To \"Big Ben\" or not to \"Big Ben\"?

I guess I disagree with this statement as well because my experience has told me differently. Sessions I recorded using the clock from one of my 888/24s sounded better (a lot better to my ears) when...

Re: To \"Big Ben\" or not to \"Big Ben\"?

Hey man, you don't have to listen to what ANYONE is telling you! You can just check it out yourself and make your own decision based on what YOU hear. If you check it out and don't hear a...

Re: To \"Big Ben\" or not to \"Big Ben\"?

I couldn't disagree with robert's statements more (pretty much all of them). Different clocks will indeed change the way digital audio sounds. I've experienced it first hand along with many others...

Re: Anyone keeping their Mix + System?

Yep, that's right - forgot to mention the mixer. The most important task it performs is to allow you to use your system. If you didn't need it for that (if your Mix Farm was a Mix Core, both...

Re: Anyone keeping their Mix + System?

I'm not sure if you mean pick up a couple to build a couple new PT rigs, PTUserNYC but just to clarify in case someone misunderstands - a d24 core system is one d24 card and one DSP Farm card. It's...

Re: ok.. MY .02¢\'s worth

In regards to the title of the thread, I don't think OS X is moving backwards. Not by a longshot. Apple has always been an innovator and everyone else is always scuffling to keep up. This is...
