Re: Tech Question re : mix tweaks

Hi Rich,

For years I've been successfully using Nicecast. At end of life, I cross graded to Audio Hijack based on the online documentation that claimed I could broadcast from my local server with...

Re: Commit Sucks!!

Commit works well here, with one exception: I often end up with extremely long handles (for lack of a better term) at the end of the committed audio file. For example, if I commit a 3 minute vocal...

Wish for multi license discount yearly fee for HD

As the purchaser of several HD licenses, I wish Avid would offer a discount for multiple upgrade renewals. Multiple $399/year fees add up quickly. Given that I have not called for support in over 15...

Re: 12.8.1 - Panning Bug on my System

FYI I have the same issue in PT HD 12.8.0. My workaround is to add breakpoints just barely inside the breakpoints created with the Trimmer tool.

Re: STOP trying to make EL Capitan work!

PT 12.4 HD is mostly solid on my MacPro4,1 Nehalem machine. GUI lags (but only slightly) if I adjust plugin parameters while session is playing. I dislike it, but it does not stress me out.

Good News: PTHD 12.4 + OS X 10.11.2

Just a heads up to anyone considering El Capitan 10.11.2... It is stable for me. The only drag is a *mildly* glitchy GUI when the session is playing, mostly apparent when sweeping frequencies or...

Re: el capitan

Johnny, will you please keep us posted on your success with OS 10.11.2? This is an interesting topic to me because all my Macs are 10.8.5, PT HDX 11.3. I am ready to install PT HD 12.3.1, and am...

Re: Is the 11.3.2 update better than the 11.3.1?

First thing I check when hearing clicks and pops is the clock settings. Could clock issues be part of your problem?

Hi Steve, the same thing happens when I print analog hardware inserted tracks back into PT 11.3 (HDX), with or without Melodyne. It never misbehaved before adding a UAD2 Octo card to my system. Do...

Re: Computer Freezes when moving mouse while re-activating tracks

I've had it happen when reactivating an audio track with no automation, but the track did have clip gain edits. No software plugins--only a single hardware insert and a single pre-fader send....

Re: Is there really need for ext. SSD? One SATA SSD enough?

Something else to think about: If you enable disk cache, and you have plenty of memory, performance of the audio drives should be adequate, regardless of SSD or HDD. For the OS drive, however, SSD...

Re: Is there really need for ext. SSD? One SATA SSD enough?

I did nearly the same thing, and I agree that 250 GB SSD would be better than 128 GB for the boot drive.

I personally would stick with a 7200 rpm HDD for the audio drive. More storage, less...

Re: PT 11.2 Hangs when activating send...or audio track

I can confirm similar, or at least related, behavior. For me, reactivating an inactive audio track hangs PT 11 HD (v 11.2) about 90% of the time. SWOD, force quit, relaunch/reboot. Timeline is...

Re: Pt11.2

PT HD 11.2 and Eucon 3.1.3 are working well here so far. Day 1; two mixes... Smooth sailing... Fingers crossed in hope that tomorrow is as good as today was.

Re: PT11HD on 2011 MacBook Pro

A cost effective solution might be to simply clone your boot drive and have it ready to go in the event that you need to buy a second MBP in a hurry.

I've heard that laptops are not as robust and...

Re: UAD-2 and Pro Tools 11

Same here, very stable, with the exception of the Compare button no longer being functional in the UAD plugin GUIs. Anybody else seeing this?

I'm on OS 10.8.5; PT11.1.1 HDX; UAD2 Octo. (2009 Mac...

Re: Parallel Compression, & Sends

It may help for you to think of processing in two ways: series and parallel. Series is where you instantiate (insert) the processor on the actual track. Parallel is where you send (bus) the audio...

Re: No Pro Tools HD 8 on AVID Store???

Hi Danny.... I'm curious why you suggest 8.0.5 for the G5? My main expanded rig is generally very stable with 8.0cs3. I stopped there simply because I use a lot of hardware I/O (64 analog & 64...

Re: PT8 rewriting audio files when reopening *recent* PT8 sessions

I've always delivered 24-bit dual mono (never stereo interleaved) wav files to mastering. In fact, I usually send two versions: raw and peak limited so that the mastering engineer can hear the...

Re: HD3 system in need of troubleshooting help

I've noticed that every so often a BNC cable goes bad and leads to clocking issues. It's a good idea to keep a spare cable handy because it's a good place to begin troubleshooting...and, if you're...

Re: PT8 rewriting audio files when reopening *recent* PT8 sessions

PT8 rewriting audio files when reopening *recent* PT8 sessions

I found a thread about PT8 rewriting files created in PT7, but nothing specific to my situation.

I did a couple recalls of sessions from six weeks ago--same Mac OS, same PT 8.0cs3--and the Task...

Re: pci expansion chassis...

I'm still using a Mac G5 PPC Dual 2.0 with a Digidesign 13-slot expansion chassis, which is 32-bit PCI. I'm running PT 8.0cs3, HD4 Accel, 4 Lynx Aurora 16s and multiple eSATA drives. The rig works...
