Re: New Licensing

We all heard the phrase "never out all your eggs in one basket" but this is the basket falling. Pro tools is great at what it does. But I'm not going to pay for an unknown future. I't is the industry...

Re: Pro Tools 11

I just bought PT10 April 1st and didn't get it installed until April 2nd. I am happy about PT11 but I am not happy i have to now pay another $300 on top of what it will take for aax plug-ins. I mean...

Re: Avid big announcement at NAB

These are all tools though. Nevertheless, Pro Tools (man whoever came up with that name was a genius) has pulled a Nike on us for years. Remember the Micheal Jordan and Spike Lee (Mars) Commercials?...

Re: Avid big announcement at NAB

I used to use Nuendo or Cubase for everything. Now, I use Cubase to produce or do sketch pads. I may even use it to record, but editing and mixing will be in Pro tools. The thing about pro tools is...

Re: If Pro Tools 11 comes out next week...

My issue is paying for the upgrade for all my plugins to AAX. You are talking about some serious money. My hope is that someone will make a wrapper or that one will be included. I waited to get PT10...

Re: HD1 or HD Native card

Panama, I think this is a great place for the discussion. After all it is a consideration when deciding what to get.

I think this is a significant but overlooked issue many PT users (or future...

Re: HD1 or HD Native card

Panama Jack you bring up a good point. HD2 pcie vs HD2pcix will have a different cost. I like the debate Guitar and SF are having. It shows that there are some misconceptions about what HDN can and...

Re: HD1 or HD Native card

Both stewart and guitar bring up some GREAT points. I think maybe I need to change the title to HD2 vs HDN vs HDX. I think we have to take off our fan hats and "were number one fingers" and put on...

Re: HD1 or HD Native card

I have to step in on guitardoms behalf. A few years ago when building my i7 PC to work with PT, I modeled my system after his and its been rock solid since PT8. This guy is extremely knowledgeable...

Re: HD1 or HD Native card

I had no idea the conversation would morph like this. It says that although some like HDN, it's still not HD from a hardware perspective. You would think a $5000 system wouldn't have some of the...

Re: HD1 or HD Native card

I do appreciate the responses and the open discussion on this issue.

One thing I keep seeing within the site is the anticipation that PT11 is going to be a game changer. Thats not a problem but...

Re: HD1 or HD Native card

My primary reason for upgrading was to utilize the Disk Cache features of PT10HD. With an HD1 system, I could use TDM for at least a while, possibly bump it up to an HD2 system and also have a better...

Re: HD1 or HD Native card

Honestly I dont feel I "need" to upgrade so to speak, LOL. I hate to upgrade because to me it seems I am just paying more for the "new car smell" rather more than anything else. I am just looking at...

HD1 or HD Native card

I am looking to upgrade my system from PT9 and a Saffire 40 to PT10HD. Instead of buying the HD native package, I am thinking about buying a used HD1 card, a 192 interface (or used omni) and then an...

Re: Cubase 7 is out with a BANG ! Avid We Need PT 11 !!

Again, I think we all know this is a PT forum. No one is saying that PT10 isnt popular or a great DAW. It is extremely versatile and powerful. What I (and I think a few others) are trying to say is...

Re: Learn Pro Tools on my current version 9 or upgrade to 10 first???

I have 9 and I am in a similar situation. I was thinking of upgrading to 10 around October so if 11 came out like 10 did I could upgrade for free. However, I am hearing it will be awhile before 11...

Re: Any good books on mix and mastering?

You should get the all access pass from groove3.com. I think that is the best investment a newbie can make. It not only will teach you the basics and fundamentals but also advance topics. Ou will...

Re: Will the new AAX plugs be supported in other daw's?

That idea of other software being able to use HDX is a good one. Just like the UAD cards work in all. And dont tell me AVID cant write that kind of code because computers can do anything, just watch...

Re: Syncing Pro Tools to Fostex R8

Honestly, I wouldnt try to sync PT to it, not worth the hassle. I would go out from my interface (if you have 8 outs) into the R8, then back out in and line everything up in PT through editing.
