Re: How do you use an analog mixer with Protools?

You need to use Direct Outs of your console, and check for manual if it is pre-eq or post-eq (might need to open it to change behaviour). If it cannot be done on your console and the direct outs are...

Re: System Usage Disk Cache crazy

If it is a VI then yes, if it is a compressor, then no.

If you save a session with new file name, then no. If you do the Save Copy In, then yes.

Re: System Usage Disk Cache crazy

Disk Cache does not cache VI samples, only audio that is in the timeline.

Re: Frozen files

Even if it did, WAV is uncompressed audio so it would mean such file would hold same amount of data. Very counter-productive way to implement undo, compared to multiple files (of which you actually...

Re: Frozen files

No, it isn't. WAV file does not support that. Undo works in such a way you have multiple files and the session knows which to use.

Re: Frozen files

You can contact Avid Support for this, that is what you pay for.

Different version of freeze / unfreeze / refreeze comes from the length of undo queue. You need to be able to undo both freezes. If...

Re: Mac Pro 5,1: I need USB 3 but no PCIe slots left

^^ even if you allocated fixed x1 for USB and fixed x1 for SSD you would be using x2 lanes when you copy from USB to SSD. This would probably be close to ideal if your chassis has more than two slots...

Re: Mac Pro 5,1: I need USB 3 but no PCIe slots left

Haven't read specs of your chassis so I'll just ignore that, no idea how the "variable bandwidth" would work in that piece of gear.

Just saying -- even with variable bandwidth, or "dynamic lanes"...

Re: Spinning wheel of death and Pro Tools Ultimate...

Sure. Just that Kontakt AAX sucks, heavy VI users who want to use PT are using a wrapper to run Kontakt AU -- that says a lot.

Re: Room Mic for Drums

Just trying to make the thing simple here.. for cheaper FET mic get NT1000 and for little more money and options get tube K2. Choose between the two from Rode large diagphram line. In this price...

Re: Spinning wheel of death and Pro Tools Ultimate...

So I guess my comments kind of confirmed you to put the blame on NI and please spam their customer service until they get their act together. I hate it that it crashes so often. Very embarassing when...

Re: Frozen files

I haven't tried but if you set your undo levels to zero to one it might do the trick. As said, as long as the session is open (undo queue is active) the file must not be deleted. So the setting would...

Re: Mac Pro 5,1: I need USB 3 but no PCIe slots left

Can add and can perform are two different things.

One PCIe 2.0 lane is 500MB/sec and you just cannot beat it. USB3 cannot fit in it so it needs two lanes. Also if you have SSD in there, you only...

Re: Spinning wheel of death and Pro Tools Ultimate...

I see similar numbers here. If you have video engine enabled, you can save about 4GB memory if you don't really need it.. but I'd say memory isn't the issue.

Re: Spinning wheel of death and Pro Tools Ultimate...

Kontakt AAX really isn't Catalina ready yet. A friend of mine was just visiting and we had a testing session. Running Kontakt AU via BlueCatAudio wrapper was much more stable. Native AAX version of...

Re: Room Mic for Drums

No problem at all.

Just to be clear; on Rode lineup, NT1-NT2 are the same mic on cardioid, updated version got multi pattern but fails miserably. K1 (NTK) and K2 are tube mics, updated version got...
