Re: No audio when scrubbing with Artist Control

If you can hear stuff when you scrub with the mouse (ctrl-click-drag) it can't be an audition setting. Very strange. Over here it works just fine with the jog wheel and the mouse.

Re: No audio when scrubbing with Artist Control

Weird, sorry, no idea. I've even got audio during ffwd/rewind off and still hear it when jogging.

Re: No audio when scrubbing with Artist Control

I meant that I can scrub but the audio and cursor will jitter back and forth while doing that so it's not really helping has a function. So yes pushing jog and turning the wheel does work but the...

Re: No audio when scrubbing with Artist Control

It does work but it's very jittery which makes it pretty useless. I never use it. But technically it does work.

Re: PT 2019x & Video Consensus

There's no need to convert anything to MXF unless you're on Catalina. That said, MXF has been supported for years by PT and works just like QT. Also AVID MC in the current version doesn't support...

20.1 bug: close when exiting

Hi,

so window follows tracks seems to finally work now. However "close windows when exiting" only seems to work for EQ and sends but the Pan window stays open no matter what. Not sure if this is...

Re: Buggy clip-fx?

It's odd and I can only speak for 2019.12 as I've almost never used the clip fx before but the copy menu being greyed out I see all the time. Also the keyboard shortcut for copy clip-fx won't work in...

Re: Buggy clip-fx?

Ok thanks. So I guess the problem is not in my chair but rather in ProTools which is good to know.

I'll stay away from clip fx in the future. I found that with clip effects in the session it gets...

Buggy clip-fx?

Hi,

I normally avoid clip-fx for various reasons but on a project I was recently confronted with a collaborator's tracks containing them. I noticed that for some reason the copy/paste feature for...

Re: Clips suddenly referencing wrong audio

I got bitten by this today on a big film mix. Imported a tracks created on 19.10 into 19.12 and got the invalid bounds message. After that the target session was corrupt and wouldn't open anymore....

Re: Pro Tools 2019.10 looping extended

Yes they changed that in 19.12. Maybe while getting rid of the QT playback engine. Funny, the minimum loop length is *exactly* one second. Doesn't seem like a random choice. 1 second or more = PT...

Re: APFS or Extended Journaled for session drive?

Not arguing at all. I guess I didn't understand fully what you meant by simple editing makes no difference but editing that changes actual media on disk did, which is why I wasn't seeing any...

Re: APFS or Extended Journaled for session drive?

Yep, agree for the system drive, which is an SSD here too. That definitely speeds up boot time etc and can be very small.

Over here an 860 EVO pro 4TB is around 1000€. A 4TB WD Black is 200€....

Re: AAF/OMF Issues

AFAIK, it's not possible to create a true "linked to" AAF from PT to MC for a simple reason. AVID MC works frame accurately and PT is sample accurate. So on AAF transfer PT has to add tiny dummy...

Re: APFS or Extended Journaled for session drive?

Hm, any edit in PT is just a playback instruction. Play sample XYZ from file XYZ at TC XYZ for XYZ samples.

No edit in PT actually modifies the audio (or video) on disk.

But maybe I'm...

Re: APFS or Extended Journaled for session drive?

Don't think so. Works fine here. Even converting a multi-Terrabyte-drive from HFS+ to APFS only takes a minute or two.

Re: APFS or Extended Journaled for session drive?

Hi,

my system drive is an SSD and my audio/video drives are encrypted APFS spinner drives. (more unintentionally as I didn't pay attention when re-formatting them freshly and just focused on the...

Re: Opening AAF containing .MOV video with new Mac Pro

I never use embedded AAFs but as far as referenced AAFs go they only ever contained MXF picture media. Never seen .mov or .mp4.

Not having had a way to organise the clip list for decades (after leaving AudioVision) I must say I can't image how simple "folders" in the clip list would help us in post. Are we then going to...

Re: Video Satellite without Ultimate

You don't need LTC or MTC for satellite. Unresolved LTC will just give you trigger sync and won't maintain sync over a long time either unless you clock all rigs to the same clock, but that just...

19.12.1.23 window follow oddity

Re: Artist Mix Laggy / Stuttery with PT & Logic Pro X?

Just a plain unmanaged 5-port Gbit Netgear switch. Has worked fine for years. Only started around summer or whenever the 19.x naming scheme started I think. I've just installed the 19.12 Eucon. Will...
