Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

Your post sure seems OT to me. Is it just me?

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

To me the silence from those that would really like to prove me wrong suggests that they are unable to do so. Just saying I'm wrong over and over again doesn't prove anything. It does however...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

Like John Stewart said - "If you smell something, say something" (regarding BS rather than DS though). Thanks for saying something! ;)

Re: MBOX2 lifeless protools 12

Because using ASIO4ALL with the Windows "Playback device" is sometimes (all too often!) necessary to enable the use of those other interfaces and drivers by PT on PCs. If you (or others) had (have)...

Re: MBOX2 lifeless protools 12

Here's what has been working quite well for me and my son - http://duc.avid.com/showpost.php?p=2290863&postcount=27. Thank god for ASIO4ALL!! :-)

Re: # of cores and hyperthreading

I was just explaining to you (and more importantly others) that your statement that "PT is no more slower or unstable than other daw s/w" is incorrect.

Re: MBOX2 lifeless protools 12

Mbox2 is not "officially supported" on PT12 http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/compatibility/Pro-Tools-12-Approved-Audio-Interfaces-and-Peripherals. But, you may be able to make it work anyway...

Re: # of cores and hyperthreading

You do realize that the minimum buffer size currently available in PT at a 96 kHz sample rate is 64 samples don't you?

Re: # of cores and hyperthreading

Except at least Ableton Live 9 Lite and Reason 7-8, which can operate with "stability" using half the buffer size available in PT at 192 kHz (64 samples vs 128 samples). I suspect virtually all...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

OOPs! Thanks for pointing that out. I've fixed it.

Apparently many of you that "actually use the program" don't know as much about how it operates as you think and/or would like others to...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

musicman,

I hope you feel better after your brief rest! ;)

Several of my posts on this thread were empirical. Posts 43, 44, 56, and 76 demonstrated exactly what you're talking about, and post...

Re: MBOX2 lifeless protools 12

Assuming that you installed the latest drivers for it, does it show up as Windows "Playback device" option? You can see those options by selecting them after right clicking on the speaker icon in...

Re: CPU overload on a brand new 12 Core Mac Pro

You and others might find https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUsLLEkswzE&app=desktop worth watching - thanks to guitardom! If Macs have software tools available like those shown in the video for PCs,...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

dr_daw

You and others that operate this way apparently don't understand that, according to dual latency doctrine (see post 44), you can’t “turn it up when you mix”. PT doesn’t let you because...

Wow, you've actually posted something worthwhile. :D I think it could really help viewers understand DAW system real time processing and limitations - including the impact of...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

Fellow Members, Moderators, and AVID

Apparently (at least for guitardom), I was wrong that post #76 clearly disproved the high and low latency domain claims without further description -...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

guitardom,

Isn't the whole point of the PT "automatic large fixed playback buffer for mixing (2048 samples at 96 kHz - High Latency domain)" - so you don't have to (even can't!) change buffer...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

There is a fundamental problem with the webcast and the posts by others on this thread that claim to support its findings. The large number of tracks and the large buffer sizes relative to the...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

guitardom,

Like I said, problems don't get fixed by ignoring them. I've been fixing things and getting others to fix them for over 40 years. I'm hoping to help AVID get some of the PT and DUC...

Re: # of cores and hyperthreading

amagras,

The problem isn't your (or my) computers, it's Pro Tools. That's quite evident in how much slower and less "stable" it is than other DAWs (as I have shown in the referenced link and you...

Re: Blue Screen again and again!`

Have you tried Windows' Administrative Tools? Event Viewer shows a history of all events/problems the OS detects - including hard drive and memory problems. (Wouldn't it be nice if PT did that?) ...

Re: Low-Latency Input Buffer

guitardom,

PT based DAWs are electronic systems that have inputs and outputs. If the outputs don't reflect what is expected for any given input, something is wrong with either the system or the...
