Re: MTRX Studio + Atmos Prod Suite

I use the loudness metering built in to the Atmos renderer.

I think we have accept a different headspace in terms of objects, because by their nature they live outside of any kind of fixed...

Re: HDX-II What are the chances?

Don't do it!
Unless you want to track live bands or listen 'off tape' with Vo artists.

HD Native is way more powerful than HDX1.

Re: Bounce to Quicktime alternative workflow

Shutter Encoder will also do this.
I find it easier than FFMpeg and its donation-ware.

Export audio the same length as your mp4.
Drop mp4 and audio into Shutter Encoder and choose 'add audio...

Re: Working with DaVinci Resolve : shot/clip markers

I tried the Shutter Encoder cut detection on a film I didn't have an EDL for and it currently doesn't work sadly.
The developer says he's going to improve it, so hopefully it will be a cool feature...

Re: Offline Bounce with Hardware Insert?

The speed can't be chosen AFAIK Frank.
I usually get about 4x on a 'talking in rooms' type 90min feature.
It probably varies with what plugins are used, processor speed etc.

Anyhow, I A/B'd...

Re: What are people's experiences with Auto-Align-Post?

Aaaaargh! Surely no self respecting Sound Recordist would inflict that on us.... would they?
They can use it on their mix track if they want, but please not on the iso's.

Interesting what you...

Re: What are people's experiences with Auto-Align-Post?

I find it sad that some people are shooting film now and relying on just Lavs for dialogue, with the boom as an afterthought.
Its always been acceptable for TV I suppose, but the boom should always...

Offline Bounce with Hardware Insert?

I recently started using a DBX 120 XP on my sub channel through a hardware insert in PT.
I've used all the plugins out there that supposedly do the same thing, but somehow the DBX box has a...

Re: What are people's experiences with Auto-Align-Post?

It can have troubles when one or both mics are moving, or the actor is moving and the boom is stationary.
Other than that, which I wouldn't expect it to be able to correct anyway, I find it spot on....

Re: Dock Stand Remove

I wish there was too.
I have my tablet in front of me and the Dock looks ugly without a pad on it.
Hey ho...

When using the MTRX Studio with the PT Control app monitoring page, can you to set up buttons to say spread 5.1 surrounds over a 7.1 speaker array or just mute surrounds as a group etc.
Or are those...

Re: Time to upgrade and need advice.

For me there was a big sonic difference between my old 192 and a new HD 8x8x8 when I bought it.
I can only imagine that the converters in the MTRX Studio will be even better.:-)
Just keep the 192's...

Can anyone tell me what the self noise of the MTRX Studio is please?
Does it have a fan?
Its obviously built to be at the mix position as it has a volume knob on the front, but I'm very sensitive...

Re: Atmos 7.1.4 with Avid 8x8x8

Hi Ryan,
That is how I have the 8x8x8 setup in PT.
Can you get 16 outs from your 192 using the HD Native core audio driver?
Thanks

Atmos 7.1.4 with Avid 8x8x8

I've been using my 8x8x8 interface for a 7.1.4 rig with the DAPS and send return plugins.
I have the 7.1 on AES outputs and the 4 height channels as analogue.
It works fine.

Now I'm looking at...

Re: New MacPro

I'm in the same boat here.
From my research it looks like the 16 core with a 1TB internal drive and fit your own aftermarket memory is the sweet spot for audio work.
I'm going to use NVMe ssd...

Re: Keyboard Maestro - how's it help you?

I used KM for years for many shortcuts:
As already mentioned preview and write to selection was a massive one until the PT app came out.
I've now moved over to Soundflow, as it has a much tighter...

Re: 2020.3 using much more CPU - results in video dropped frames

I read some of TNM's posts about cpu throttling, but I would have thought there would be a stellar difference in performance with your 28 core machines regardless!

It must be a Catalina/PT...

Re: 2020.3 using much more CPU - results in video dropped frames

Wow!
Southsidemusic, is that really true?
That really makes me re-consider dropping 7 grand on a new mac, if its going to be slower than my 12core trash can.

In what way is it...

Re: Memory Locations Categories

Soundflow has a little utility that allows you to save and load different marker sets. I used it on my last film and it worked brilliantly.

Otherwise the standard way is with empty clip groups,...
