A big point to notew, is we are talking latency at the SAMPLE level, not usually noticable on a track in a mix ( ie: a vocal, etc) There is no real percieved latency with using analog inserts...

As to why they had the opinion that large frame analog desks sound better, I can think ogf two reasons.

1) they do. If you really think that a 30,000 PT rig sounds better than an SSL 9K, Neve 80...

Do the pres and eq'a in your desk still work and sound well? if so, just get them rackes, use em for processing or tracking and buy a Sony DMX.. works well in this setting.
