Do the upgrades yourself. They are real simple. There are tutorials all over the Internet on how to install the ram and the SSD drives. You will save hundreds doing it that way versus letting apple...

Remember if you have the 2012 MacBook you have USB 3.0 which is faster than firewire. Although avid hasn't officially approved them, I have recorded a 24 track session with no issues with a WD USB...
