Re: PT 9 64 bit?

I have HD2 with 16GB and 8 cores at 3.2GHz, and still get system crashes when it hits 3.2GB, and 30% of the time the playback stalls due to CPU load, when no core is beyond 30%. Is PT9 going to help...

Re: Anyone try the Dell T7400? Three 64 bit PCI-X slots in a row

still works mostly. (win7 u64) v8.1 failed though, went back to 8.0.3
Still a bit too flakey
upgraded to 16GB quad channel, to be extra sure.
Be careful timing and chip config is the same on each...

Re: Switch from mac G5 (PCIx) to a PC?

I was thinking of going the other way (from windows to Mac), with HD2 PCI-X as well.

There's a few facts I can tell you that might help:

Dell T7400 machines are very cheap refurbished from...

Re: Anyone try the Dell T7400? Three 64 bit PCI-X slots in a row

The memory arrived

PT803 is no more sturdy with 12GB RAM, it just takes more VIs to get it to fail
I can now insert many instances of large VIs, I tried it with many NI ones, and got to 2.9GB...

WIll more HD users be Windows-based in future?

Since you can now buy PCIx HD cards dirt cheap second hand, and Mac users cannot use them, whereas the PC market includes many top-end machines with several PCIx slots, it now makes sense to buy into...

Re: Why don't we go to MAC OS?

I was about ready to move to Mac 2 weeks ago with my HD2.

When I learned that Digi want $4000 for me to crossgrade to PCIe with no performance gain, and saw the amount of trouble Mac users were...

Re: Anyone try the Dell T7400? Three 64 bit PCI-X slots in a row

I initially bought w7 64bit home premium yesterday. Doh. It only supports one CPU chip (i.e. 4 cores). Got w7 64b ultimate today. Seems fine with my test sessions. Have so far installed IK stuff and...

Re: YES!!!! 64bit Pro Tools!!!!

As I learned recently from a helpful Mac HD user, there is a host/rewire wrapper called Bidule which can be used for windows or OSX, allowing a separate chunk of memory to house VST (or AU)...

Re: Should I move my HD2 to Mac?

Well Bidule works fine, rewire works fine with the demo, and Bidule adds extra facilities like arpeggiators etc. It would be better to choose to use them whe desired, and use plugins directly in PT,...

Re: Should I move my HD2 to Mac?

thanks immensely for the tip, I never heard of bidule, I have the demo version in test now. The demo is standalone, and seems to work fine, I have stacked up more than 1GB of VSTs into it, and it can...

Re: Should I move my HD2 to Mac?

I know about the PCIe cost, the crossgrade is about £2500, Digi will only give me £500 more trade-in discount than they give to someone trading in an MBox. Not a very attractive offer, since my HD2...

Re: How many Virtual Instruments are typical on an 8 core PC?

I used to use the 3G switch for XP, recently it stopped making a difference, I assume an XP s/p started doing it automatically. PT8 never seems keen to use much RAM itself though

I assume you mean...

Re: How many Virtual Instruments are typical on an 8 core PC?

I still have my RC version of win 7 64 bit - I never installed it, is that worth trying, or do I need to get the proper latest release version to evaluate this?

3.5G is not much though is it? How...

How many Virtual Instruments are typical on an 8 core PC?

I've had Digi hardware running on Windows since 1995, TDM from 2000 and HD2 since 2002, other than buying incompatible motherboards (easily resolved), it's worked fine. Not anymore

Over the last 2...

Re: HD PCI to PCIe Upgrade Discount/Promotion?

Currently I run an 8 core 3.2 GHz Dell system with it. I may move to...

Has anyone tried the cheap Expansion chassis?

for example

http://www.virtuavia.eu/shop/index.php?target=products&product_id=29891&sl=EN

or 100 euro less for a lower power one

I can't see why an empty box with a backplane and some IO...

Re: Legacy interfaces - are they worth investing in?

well it's probably the cheapest way to get spare inputs rather than complicating your life with legacy kit.

Fundamentally though, the ADAT interface must offer more options than legacy kit. I'm...

Re: HD2 PCIe Newbie
