Re: Best low cost preamp/converter upgrade to 001?

If you've already looked at Lucid and are prepared to shell out those kind of clams, consider this...

For around the same price the Mytek ADC has equally good converters and a superior clock....

Re: PT 6 Success stories?

"The fact that you couldn't in OS 9 or Windoze is what was crazy"

That's called cooperative multitasking, and lack of true thread prioritisation. Win2K and Mac OSX are really the first OSes on...

Re: Re-amping Guitar

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Well all I can say is the process I described was not a problem for me. Mind you, I'm using "chunk guitar" tones, it might be a different story for clean tones....

Re: Re-amping Guitar

I can't remember off the top of my head. But what I did was record both the DI out and a mic on the amp. (I could've nudged the tracks back 2.9ms for the 128 buffer latency but frankly I couldn't be...

Re: Re-amping Guitar

Should be fine. Obviously you want to A/B the output of the DI-guitar channel with a real guitar to make sure it's driving the amp at the same level. Or not (you might find something you like in...

Re: Question 4 Rode NTK Users

OK, I've had a good look... there's nothing I couldn't attribute to the performance. ( images/icons/smile.gif )

Good luck sussing it out. If the rest of the setup's faultless, surely a frequent...

Re: Digi-bash... look....

Strongly disagree... "it's a very limited version of Pro Tools that has limited compatibility with the real thing" ... LE does exactly what I want it to do: track + edit, then move to a commercial...

Re: Question 4 Rode NTK Users

I just did a truckload of vocals into my NTK last night... I'll have a close look at the waveforms tonight.

Re: Good Headphone Amp?

I've been looking for one of these lately, I can't believe no-one's developed a dedicated matrix mixer for this purpose. The closest I've found so far is the Q-mix HM6...

Re: Do you have a good D ---> A converter?

The 001 doesn't become completely useless (I expect), clocking to an external (and better) source should improve the 001 inputs somewhat. As for it's worth in the first place... it's probably best...

Re: What are the best overhead mics???

Pencil condensers are a popular choice for this sort of thing. Cheaper alternatives to KM-184s are Oktava MC012 or the Rode NT5 matched pair. I've also heard excellent results out of the Shure SM94...

Ah, Chompers, now you've done it...

Could Dylan sing? Of course! He was a terrible singer...

Haven't you ever listened to Zach and wondered what could've been... ?

What Dylan had, was...

Re: Any math majors out there? This one\'s tricky..For me at least..

Sure NineSpine, but I broke it down. I don't believe in just passing a formula on if there's a chance to explain the concept as well. Otherwise it's just another formula that's useless in any other...

Re: Any math majors out there? This one\'s tricky..For me at least..

60 / BPM, x 1000 gives you the length of the beat in ms
Divide that by 3 and you get triplets.

Eg. 112 BPM

60 / 112 = 0.536, x 1000 = 536 ms
536 / 3 = 179 ms

Clear as mud?

Re: mac advice for wintel user

I don't believe Macs ship with OS9 anymore. Unless you pick up a second-hand copy, you might need to wait for PT6.0.

Myself, I'd go for the faster PC. Unless you have a specific need to switch to...

Re: Better performance and Enxtensions post!

I've got a couple of ideas to add to this.

I finally ran the DaveC test on my 867 G4 the other day and got 14 tracks. I couldn't add the 15th; I'd get the gyrating hand and then the system would...

Re: 002, How many tracks, really? Latency, adat i/o

Re. the overdub latency, that's gonna depend on the buffer size (if the 002 follows the same ratios as the 001, 128 sample buffer should be about 1.33ms @ 96kHz). If the system can't handle it,...

Re: Digi 001 or 24 MIX

I don't know about all this talk. Something sounds wrong to me, Crabkiller. Do a search for the performance threads (the DaveC test?), the PC guys were getting truckloads of plugs on 1GHz+ systems....

Re: Need Some Help w/ New Gear

I hate to point it out, but you might need to upgrade your front end - mics and preamps. The SM57 might work for a belting rock vocal but will probably let you down for other approaches. I can't...
