One piece of advice I found helpful is record all bass and guitar direct. I use the PODx3 pro. It has the guitar and bass all in one and even has 2 vocal/line preamps. It works good for me. ...

You might have bearnt one of your firewire ports. You can't disconnect the firewire cable while the mac or 002 is on. try the other port in the back of the 002 with power on both turned off. If...

Just high light the portion with no audio transients and drag the marker to where the audio begins and hit Ctl X
That should delete all the unwanted pauses. I hope this helps
