Re: Midi Input Port 'None'

I just ran into this when firing up an old Yamaha for midi. However, I have learned that MIDI appears to act as a serial device much like UltraSCSI or eSATA... every device needs to be connected and...

Re: 11.1 Surround ???

You may be other-thinking the process.

5.1 is the standard to this day, and SOMETIMES a discrete 7.1 is done. But the 7.1 standard is L, C, R, Lm, Rm, Ls, Rs, LFE. SDDS uses the configuration...

Re: consistency between reels..

If you're referrring to multiple videos in a session, and sharing the same video track, yes.

Our OMF intake requires building all reels together in one session, and this is usually handled on an...

Re: New PC, New problems for Digi 002

+1 regarding firewire; that can be the bane of some many cryptic LE issues. Bought myself the Digi-recommended ADS Pyro card... has been rock-solid.

Re: De-Clipping Files

De-crackling can work sometimes... works best though only with quick transients that got blown it; It doesn't "fix" them, but softens the artifacting by getting rid of those "distortion clicks",...

Re: PT 8 and Waves

You will need Waveshell v6.x

You may have luck getting v5.x to work, but there's no guarantee, and from my knowledge, it probably won't.

Re: I deleted everything!!

Well, just because a (OS) drive is non-bootable doesn't mean its hopeless for data recovery. Had my WinXP drive crash pretty hard, requiring a reformat. But, I pulled the drive out and used a SATA...

Re: OMF sample accuracy against Quicktime guides in Pro Tools LE

I personally have not encountered that. While the mods will look slightly different (since the QT is imported to 24-bit and the OMF is as well), I have not had anything off, at least not in the last...

Re: Archive systems

LTO is a very robust storage media, but it can be finnicky sometimes. Make sure both your computer and LTO deck are venilated well and are on different power sources (or even different breakers/wall...

Re: Question about the plug ins included with the 8 upgrade

+1 to what Skylfash said, you get all those plugs. Finally a sweeter deal from Digi, if you ask me ;) Would still like to have been given Tel Ray for free though, I like dabbling with it.

I've...

Re: Anyone else burning too many coasters with Macpros?

+1

There's a lot of BAD media out there. Case in point, the ONLY dual layer DVDs worthy of archival are the Singapore-made Verbatim MKM001s. I have ad good experience with Memorex for CD-Rs, and...

Re: HELLp!!! Digidesign 003 Rack Major Issue

Potentially blew the Firewire ports/card on the 003. Happened to mine when I had a small wiring mishap on my comp. It behaved the same way. If that's the case, will need to sent in for a board...

Re: L, C, R, Ls, Rs, Lfe basics

Agree with Arferguinness.

HOWEVER.... what is the ultimate goal so we can all help best? Are you trying to get the stems to play L/R only, sum mono Center, Quad effect with no C, etc?

As long as you have all your plugin iLok assets in order, you're fine with the plugins.

Re: Alt Buttons Jamming up

The Win key toggles Windows "hotkey" mode which overrides PT; does weird things like F brings up find, R brings up the Run window, etc. Always happens to me because I regularly use the hotkey scrub...

Re: So What Do You Think...HD vs LE with CPT?

I do post exclusively, and I don't see myself going to HD. Its old technology (the DSP chips are ancient), the extra features are slim once you have CPTK.

ADC would be nice, but getting by...

Re: PT 8: Scrub & Crash

It's asomething with the "mode" it goes into; when you scrub/shuttle from the C|24 for instance, there's no snag up. But immediatey try it with the mouse... no dice. Have had it happen on HD before,...
