I suggest that you do NOT mix video card brands in the same computer.

And about choosing brands, I had best results with ATI. In our HD systems the Nvidia drivers exibit IRQ conflicts with Digi...

Well, at least it's better than my current limit with XP: 2.3 GB, With 3.2 you can load a few more samples...

What would be the max. amount of ram that PT can use before crashing in W7x64? For example, loading heavy Kontakt session...

I know that one of our systems (XP/4GB ram/002/PAE enabled) crashes...

Solution

I had this freeze twice and my solutions were:

1-Memory related: I use OCZ gold memory and it needed more voltage than the mother was automatically providing (.1v actually). Increase it in bios....

Hi, did anybody build a system with the new i5/i7 CPUs and 1156 motherboards?

Didn't see any PT performance numbers on those. I wonder how the dual/triple ram channel compares.

I switched almost all our systems to PC years ago when the Macs of that time got inviable. (G4 windtunnel for example .)

We had to adjust for a period of time but eventually every system ended up...

I also suspect the problem is related to Nvidia drivers. I wish I had an ATI card to try. All our machines have Nvidia cards because I thought they would be more compatible.

Same problem here. Q6600, Asus P5K, 2 GB ram, HD 1, PT 7.3 cs5.

I was using a Dual Core 930, Asus P5LD2(945 chipset) that worked fine. This is very bad, can not work with this problem.

My new system exhibits the same behavior. Unusual high CPU ratings at idle with PT open and with 4 cores enabled at low latencies.

In my case one of the cards is at 51 degrees and the other at 49. It's not a lot of difference with the ATI, but every degree counts when you have the cards sitting very close...
