Re: Cutting and Inserting Time with Melodyne

Hey, Rich!

I had an email exchange with Jorg at Celemony, and he confirmed what you're saying. The Melodyne window is an actual window that looks at a set of essentially stationary files without...

Re: Cutting and Inserting Time with Melodyne

Thanks, Dave. Very logical suggestions, and I've used various forms of those when I need to do spot tuning. In this case the vocal tracks are so problematic that as I get deeper into the mix, I keep...

Cutting and Inserting Time with Melodyne

Hey all. Is there some nifty workaround for the problem of Melodyne not updating when time is cut or inserted into the timeline? Committing the tracks would probably do the trick, but for the project...

Does this transcode as fast as Shutter Encoder?

Re: Aligning a Virtual Choir

I'm right there with ya. This is one of the most tedious and hideous jobs I've ever taken on. I might have even said a bad word or two today.

Re: Aligning a Virtual Choir

Sounds really nice. I actually have quite a bit of experience recording choirs, orchestras and chamber music. That experience is proving useless in trying to make 60 individual bad recordings of...

Re: Aligning a Virtual Choir

They do offer a 14 day trial, so yeah, I could (and may) do that. But in order to avoid spending even more time, on what is already proving to be a tedious process, learning new software that may or...

Aligning a Virtual Choir

Hey, all. I've been handed a virtual choir project to fix up and mix. 60 singers doing some flowing classical stuff, and it's dang sloppy. In addition to the Elastic Audio options, I already have...

Re: Dark Theme in Pro Tools 2020.11

Gotta agree with all the Dark Mode naysayers. It's not unusable, but kinda feels like an 80's Halloween party.

Re: Mid-Side plug-in?

Voxengo also has a free one that works well.

Re: PT 2020.11 and Melodyne Essential 5

So just to be clear, if I already have Melodyne Studio 5.1, installing 2020.11 won't mess with it?

Re: ProTools 2020.11

Seems all these problems being discussed are on Mac systems. Any feedback on the Windows version yet?

Re: Torturing a Classical Guitar Track

Also really tough with an always-decaying instrument, and the nature of the piece is that nothing repeats anywhere. My attempts at such things have always taken forever and rarely yielded usable...

Re: Torturing a Classical Guitar Track

Yeah, I've had my eye on that one for a long time, but have never been able to quite justify its high cost. Good to know it does seem to live up to its reputation, at least.

Re: Torturing a Classical Guitar Track

Thanks for the insight, Dave, and I'll follow your advice about dropping warp markers. The reason I'm not staying in X-Form all the time is that it's just so dang slow if we're working with longer...

Torturing a Classical Guitar Track

Hey, all.

Working on a project with a flute player who is doing a COVID-style duet with a classical guitarist, recording the parts separately, guitar first. It's an avante-garde piece that's...

Re: fix distortion in audio restoration project?

My experience exactly. It's occasionally jaw-dropping, usually an improvement, and a total fail only once in a while. Clearly it depends on the nature and severity of the distortion. But overall I've...

Re: 2020.9 stability...

Just did my first semi-intensive post mix with 2020.9.1, and it was smooth as silk. No video glitches, lots of quick edits on-the-fly. Lots of plugins and automation but no VI's, so I can't speak to...

Re: Markers question

The Cut Time option is very handy, but ignores playlists that aren't visible. Clearly we need two new options: "Include Markers" in any timeline selection and edit, and "Include All Playlists" in any...

Re: What Happens During Downsampling?

And while we're (still) on the subject, any objective opinions on how Pro Tools' SRC compares to other options, such as Izotope's?

Re: What Happens During Downsampling?

Thanks for reminding me about Bob's book, which I have and have read, but clearly need to revisit the sections on sample rates.

Re: What Happens During Downsampling?

Yes, I understand the difference between bit depth reduction and SRC. So by "reconstructing" the waveform it sounds as though there is a virtual re-recording at the new sample rate, so that none of...

What Happens During Downsampling?

Hey, all. I know there are other threads discussing the merits of high sample rates, but until now I've stuck with 48 and 44.1. I have two upcoming projects that will originate elsewhere at 96 kHz,...
