spkguitar: do you know of any firewire expresscards that work with PT? or perhaps an expresscard to pcmcia to run a firewire card that way?

Re: De-Essing......where in the chain?

mic position and technique is not usually thought of as processing. why record sibilance and plosives if you don't have to at all?

Re: 64-Bit Pro Tools?

I think I remember reading a response from digidesign saying that there isn't a significant performance increase going to 64 bit for DAW type processes. I could be wrong, but I think I heard that.

Re: One big monitor or two regular monitors

I guess I don't see the point in running a big screen with the same resolution... I'm after practicality, I guess. To me it makes no sense to simply make things bigger. I want to have more on the...

Re: having Problems With Levels When Bouncing - HE

Yeah make sure you have a master fader and make it so that the level is as hot as it can be without clipping. Professional recordings these days are very, very loud. Most of them are compressed and...

Re: Unable to use Busses in Pro Tools

pro tools acts like a tape machine... input only is going to let you listen to just the incoming signal on a record armed track. auto input will play back regions on the record armed track, but when...

Re: LE vs. TDM

I wish LE had snapshot automation. Pro Tools LE does not need automatic delay compensation, for the most part. It's all handled with the H/W Buffer. Unfortunately, it can only handle up to so much...

Re: how to assign additional outputs?

the master fader does not have outputs; it is a fader for the selected OUTPUT path. You cannot control multiple output paths with one master fader. A workaround would be to assign everything to an...

Re: digital noise

is it a sine wave or something? Could you maybe post a brief clip?

When you import, tell Pro Tools to make a new copy of it.

Re: DFHS latency

I'm honestly not familiar with what DFHS is, but I'm pretty sure there is little to no latency rewiring instruments. Your hardware buffer will change your MIDI latency. If you can, use the lowest...

Re: Mix Window - can meters be made bigger?

Windows equivalent is most likely ctrl+alt+windows+click on meter. It's been a while since i've done it, but I believe that's it.

I'm not sure if the circle thingy has a name, but it opens the...

Re: OT: Akai MPC users/fans?

why don't you just sequence in pro tools and send the MIDI data to trigger the MPC? I didn't read your post real thoroughly, so if this post makes sense, sorry.

Re: Win XP Dual Boot-able?

If you don't have a second system drive, then yes, partition the system drive. Windows XP will pretty much walk you through the process. Keep in mind, you will lose all your previous stuff and have...

Re: Loosing high freqs after bounce

It's because you're bouncing as MP3. Not only is MP3 lossy compression, but it's old technology and does not preserve the audio quality very good. If you can, bounce as CD quality WAV (16-bit/44.1...

Re: Catch 22!! This is too dumb to be true.

I don't understand what your complaint is. These things you have mentioned are just the nature of the hardware. It has nothing to do with M-Audio and applies to LE stuff as well.

Re: 96k playback on PTLE 6.9.2

LE supports up to 32 tracks. How many tracks YOU can play depends on your system. I'm not that familiar w/the G4's and what they can handle. If you're using the internal hard drive on your Powerbook,...

Re: OT How do you convert .WMA songs to I Tunes?

technically in order to get around that, you'd be breaking your copyright license. one way you can do it is to run a session of pro tools and take a direct out from your sound card and feed it into...

1) when configuring your RTAS plugin, break the timebased rules and...
