Re: Waves plugins... What's the use of standalone versions?

I don't understand why I never thought of that. In my naive mind, everyone is using Pro Tools.

Waves plugins... What's the use of standalone versions?

So, lots of Waves plugins also come in standalone software versions, sitting on our desktops and (I'm assuming) never getting used from over there. What's the point in having those standalone...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

I know that. Read up on it a while back. (Huge Elgar Fan, by the way.)

But the fact that major Hollywood scores should be recorded there also makes my point. I lived in LA for 20 years and I know...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

I also dislike the non-stop references to Beatles-related studios and gear, as if it automatically meant quality. The name given to some old London residence converted into a recording studio is...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

Thanks for that detailed comment. I'll be sure to pay more attention to these. If I can get H-Verb to work well for me then it might be worth it, after all.

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

Not a whole lot. I'm new to PT (Used Samplitude before.) and only have used PT for 5-6 songs. But the stock plugins have served very well. I used meticulously dialed eq tricks to bring a badly...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

I played with the Abbey Road Plates plugin for hours. Tried every possible dial. Sounds OK, but it's not appropriate for this mix. I didn't feel good about the sound coming out of H-Verb either. In...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

Wow! That Abbey Road trick is amazing! Thank you so much! Can't believe I might continue mixing not know that cool trick. Some reverb plugins allow you to roll off the highs and stuff, it's nothing...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

Three bills... This time I might have to demo first. :)

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

Thanks for your comments. I might have been a little overzealous... But if we take eq, for instance, the PT stock 7-band eq seems superior to the ones in Waves, with the exception that it won't let...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

Thank you for the intelligent thoughts and the good advice. I agree with you. I have many years of experience in music making but digital production is relatively new to me. So it's entirely possible...

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

Thanks. I'm going to look into these and see if I can learn to use them well.

Re: Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

Got the Platinum Bundle + a few separate reverb and some other plugins. And I agree with you. Their eq plugins were so bad I don't see myself ever using them. I'll see if I can find something I like...

Shelled out for the Waves Bundle, went back to stock plugins.

I don't get it. After being on this forum for a while, I realized I needed a bunch of plugins, and, instead of paying each time, I just went ahead and got the Waves Platinum Bundle (plus a few other...

Re: Does PT have a spectral view for special cleanup?

Oh, you should see how Samplitude handles that... The control is gives you is incredible! One of the top reasons Samplitude users love their software.

I came to PT, just to be able to collaborate...

Re: Does PT have a spectral view for special cleanup?

Interesting justification. In other words... "We're popular. Other companies are making paid products to extend the functionality of our software. We don't have to do anything. We don't need to...

Re: Does PT have a spectral view for special cleanup?

Strange that people have opposed something like this. It's clearly a defect for a industry standard software to be lacking such an important feature.

Why the hell did we move away from Samplitude!

Re: Does PT have a spectral view for special cleanup?

That's just so weird... No noise removal, no spectral view, no opening multiple sessions... I love the Pro Tools interface but I feel like I downgraded from the previously used cheaper software I had.

Does PT have a spectral view for special cleanup?

Before switching to Pro Tools, I used to use Adobe Audition and Samplitude. In both programs, I could go into spectral view and see the frequencies in colors and was able to do precision clean up,...

Re: The faders in my mix are frequently above 0. Is that a problem.

Car analogies are notoriously meaningless in audio. It's always brought up here and I haven't seen one which accurately presents the issue.

If you take away the need for speed, prestige, human...

Re: The faders in my mix are frequently above 0. Is that a problem.

Thanks for that. Are you implying that, if Maxim is used lightly (leaving enough dynamics in the peace but just bringing the volume up to acceptable levels), then Maxim is as good as any other...

Re: The faders in my mix are frequently above 0. Is that a problem.

Thanks. I understand L2007 would give me more features and a much better interface, but wouldn't the sound outcome pretty much be the same? All a limiter does is raise the volume of the rest of the...

The faders in my mix are frequently above 0. Is that a problem.

So I mixed a song. I spent a lot of time to get it right. And, needless to say, it wasn't loud enough. So I used the plug-in called maxim to raise the volume. (See the attached image.)

I am about...

Thanks so much for taking the time to help. I followed through everything just fine, except in the top left of the Docked MIDI Editor, there's no such a thing as "Follow Edit Scrolling." Where should...
