Worthless error "unable to initialize the..."

Had this one this morning, booted as normal, running PTHD9 and at the final initialization of the audio hardware, received something to the note of "unable to initialize the chosen audio...

I've got the exact same issue and it's maddening.

perhaps you can describe your setup?

I only run into this (consistently) if I'm leveraging the HD card with TDM plugs...if I run RTAS plugs in...

I have 3 @ 40Gb that run in gang on my fw card. Still great portable drives, just not state of the art ;-).

BTW, I was looking through the build specs in the most recent 20 pages...what happened...

So having been an early adopter of the Quad back in 2005, I'm now starting to have issues with the system and am investigating the i7 build.
