Re: Blackmagic Intensity Pro & Pro Tools 11.3 HD = Horrible video playback

Try going back to 10.3.4. Also DNxHD145 is quite a massive load for PT at little to no visual benefit over DNxHD36. At least not for sound work. Maybe your mac is too slow for this codec. If it isn't...

Re: AAX Native voice usage on PT 11.1.3 HDX

In film sessions with 7.1 panning, stem-rounting and lots of tracks and plugs it's not too hard to max out an HDX2 with a HDn-session.

Re: Output woes.

In that case PT will keep your old I/O setup and add the new one on top which can lead to a ton of duplicate paths. It will name those (2) or (3) depending on how often your repeat that.

I...

Do you have "session overwrites I/O" checked in the IO setup?

Re: Yes to cloud collaboration!

This can drift way off topic but I'll say that this doesn't have to be true.

It's a common misconception that open-source equals insecure crypto. In fact the exact opposite is true. All the...

Re: Yes to cloud collaboration!

I think this side of the service should be clearly communicated. Claiming "It's secure!" is very easy.

Re: Yes to cloud collaboration!

Do you have a source for that claim?
There are several video and audio chat apps that offer encryption and even run on smart-phones. Some so strong that even the NSA can not read it (Redphone/Signal...

Re: Yes to cloud collaboration!

This isn't about governments. It's about any kind of attacker who is interested in the content for whatever reason. If only to protect the data from programming errors and 0-day-exploits.

But...

Re: Yes to cloud collaboration!

What's the point of a cloud that's not connected to the internet 24/7?
How will your collaborators access the data when they need it?

Frank.

Re: Yes to cloud collaboration!

Regardless the system behind it. I think it should be end-to-end encrypted. If you use your 'own' private cloud it wouldn't change the risks unless the data in your cloud is encrypted at rest so in...

Re: Yes to cloud collaboration!

Will be interesting to read about how this system is secured.
Especially with regards to post-production folks and the strict NDAs we're often tied to. (remember Dropbox, Adobe, Sony and other...

Re: MXF to Wav

Your version is indeed quite old. v4.3 went at least up to v120 I think.

If you use a current version of SM it will read MXF directly. No need to convert anything first.

But: Did they not give...

Re: Sync-One2 - AV synchronisation measurement

+1

Protools can compensate down to 1ms without genlock and down to full frames when genlocked.

Re: AAX Native voice usage on PT 11.1.3 HDX

HDX doesn't exactly cap voices. It uses the processing power differently. The problem is that complex sessions with a ton of surround busses etc. will eat chips away for the mixer. Also having DSP...

Re: BUG 11.2.2: black wink when using pre-roll

See post #30. I was referring to Buccanears' test.
I have 10.3.4 installed.

I can't go to Yosemite because EuControl isn't supported yet.

Re: BUG 11.2.2: black wink when using pre-roll

Yes, that's the bug. Only happens when you made a selection (not necessarily a clip).

Re: BUG 11.2.2: black wink when using pre-roll

Like I wrote, I tested it with the same driver that you have.

Things that are different on my rig:

1080P 24fps DNxHD36 QTs
OS 10.8.5

So could be any combination of those causing it.

Re: BUG 11.2.2: black wink when using pre-roll

Based on that I went forward and installed 11.3.
Still get the wink.
Same BM driver that you use.
Only difference is that I don't use SD or PAL video. I'm all 1080P 24fps DNxHD36.
And my system...

Re: Issue with pan pot on euphonix mc control eucon v2

Forget the rotaries for panning. They never worked smoothly and always jumped around and have very odd ballistics. I don't think they will ever be fixed.
Instead use flip-mode and use the faders to...

Re: BUG 12.2.2: black wink when using pre-rol

Thanks for the details! Strangely Speedsound is getting the wink on 11.2/10.9.5. I guess it's because you don't use video hardware.
