Re: PT 2024.3 | Released

Ok. MIDI plugins back = good.

But what is needed even more than one-finger toys and layers is 1)individual delay offsets for articulations, 2)controller remapping and controller scaling, and...

Before I start - a quick question

Is it possible within this framework to add functionality to PT like “when a window with this in the title is in front, send a CC/Program Change to this port”? Or maybe if I hit a hot key it could...

Workspace:can you ignore specified volumes?

Hi folks -

To shorten the time spent waiting for Pro Tools to search for files, can you tell it to ignore certain volumes?

Re: The length of Thunderbolt 2/3 extension

I didn’t specify something correctly: I am using a 2013 Mac Pro, which has TB2; connecting a TB2 fiber optic cable to the 2-to-3 adapter, which connects to the Orion.

Ironically, if I use USB to...

Re: The length of Thunderbolt 2/3 extension

Thanks for the reply. Antelope have said the adapter is fine as long as it’s Apple, and it is. I may have a bad cable. Time will tell.

Re: Thunderbolt 3 length

Good to hear that repeated. If you mean “length-agnostic”. That’s been my experience so far with extending Thunderbolt 2. The most important thing with that turned out to be “Make sure the...

Thunderbolt 3 length

Sort of a cross post. What are people using to connect Thunderbolt 3 interfaces to their ProTools computer if it’s not in the same room? Anyone using Corning fiber optic cables? Anyone using...

The length of Thunderbolt 2/3 extension

Hi folks -

I have an Antelope Orion Synergy Core. I want to have the Orion in the room with me but connected to the computer in a machine closet. Seems like that’s not the intent of any of...

Re: HDX rig/PT Studio software: will PT see the HD|IO?

Hey Scott -

That seems likely. I'm checking with support to be absolutely certain, but it sounds like you are right. Just trying to save myself the extra cost of Ultimate to be able to put off...

Re: HDX rig/PT Studio software: will PT see the HD|IO?

The goal is ultimately to have the Studio plan and sell my hardware. I'd like the hardware to continue to work as a CoreAudio device until I replace the interface, but after that I'm good with the...

Re: HDX rig/PT Studio software: will PT see the HD|IO?

The variable I will insert into the above is that I have a perpetual license. That should mean if I stop paying for the support package, though I lose the plugins that go with it, my system should...

HDX rig/PT Studio software: will PT see the HD|IO?

As above. Obviously the DSP wouldn't be available, but would the HD|IO still function as a CoreAudio device, or is the Ultimate package required to have a driver?

[edit: I have a PT Ultimate...

Re: Any happy users of the Focusrite 8/16Line with HDX systems?

Thanks, Justice. One thing I find is that if an interface is good enough we don't even think of how it sounds, because it's just doing the job.

Re: Any happy users of the Focusrite 8/16Line with HDX systems?

It’s kind of a misnomer to me because the term is traditionally applied to synchronization to a tc source. The issue is in how the 16Line reports its own latency to PT - and that it takes a little...

Re: Any happy users of the Focusrite 8/16Line with HDX systems?

There aren’t many times in recent memory where someone posting den-motherly comments about using search functions or the like (which I see you’ve done a few times) comes off as genuinely attempting...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

OffTheWall covered it. No PCIe slots isn’t the tragedy it might be. Though there are a few issues there:

if you want to use a very fast SSD, i.e. a 7000 MB/second PCIe 4.0 SSD, that would...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

They do except longer - because it’s fiber-optic they don’t have the same limits. The older ones had some heat issues (that I fixed with a little usb fan pointed at the connector), but these handle...

Re: New "Mac Studio" from Apple

I've used Corning cables for many years. Here (https://www.corning.com/microsites/coc/ocbc/Documents/OEM-062-A4-AEN.pdf) are the Thunderbolt 3 ones. Yeah, a ~30ft (10m) one is USD360 or so; but if...

Re: MIDI track Latency

This has happened on my 2013 12-core MP with HDX, though it hasn’t with the last few versions. Sometimes small sessions, mostly large ones. Buffers vary. I’d suspected it had to do with session...
