I've had a few minor disastors with ARA myself. I still use it now but my approach is to do the editing and then commit before I close the session, saving an unprocessed...

I've just updated for the first time in a couple of years and it seems back and play has been removed from the keyboard shortcuts?

It there another way to jump back a bar or so from a keyboard...

I am getting ILOK issues unless I plug it directly into a port, but I cannot tie up one of my three thunderbolt ports with it...

I'm seeing this too now and again too, can't notice any pattern to it. Just randomly on opening a session previously hidden tracks are shown again.
