Re: Loud random noise during playback

Ok, it looks like I seem to have fixed the problem. I disabled the nVidia nForce chipset's IDE driver, and reverted back to the Windows one. Now I just need to solve the issue of random crashes and...

Loud random noise during playback

My mac just died recently, so I ported my old Mix Plus system to my PC and downloaded 6.4.1 from Digidesign. When opening up sessions previously created under my mac environment, they play fine some...

How do we use ReWire with 6.4.1 for TDM Mix?

I can't seem to find ReWire in any of the inserts. Apparently it's supposed to be there. I'm indending to get ProTools and Nuendo to talk to each other.

Re: QT/AVI file to AV Option OMF file

I just wanted to clarify this...

Is it not possible for Avid Express to export OMFI video files that ProTools with AVOption XL can read?

Also (please excuse my ignorance with the newness of our...

Re: Talkback - Gates, Comps, and Sidechains

Yeah the signal generator trick is a great one. I had the same issue for a long time and figured it out. I hate talkback buttons. I like to keep communication completely open and avoid the...

QT/AVI file to AV Option OMF file

Simple question: Is there any possible way to convert any regular video media file (avi, quicktime, mpeg) into a video OMF file that ProTools 5.3.1 with AV Option can read and play back? I've tried...

Re: new Sony inflator plug-in?

Anyone care to at least attempt to compare the L2 to the Inflator? I'm very curious, and lazy right now.

Re: New Nirvana song autotuned?

No, what's next is autotune for singers who are already in key to make them sound like Kurt. images/icons/tongue.gif

Re: Consolidate hurts you r sound

The autofade function was not on, and all edits were crossfaded. I just did the phase flop test again with the consolodate function. I had a few crossfades in there. This time I only had a problem...

Re: Consolidate hurts you r sound

They already have. They of course say that there is not a thing wrong with the consolodation function. And I have done the phase flop test also, and yes, no difference... Except for that annoying...

Re: 1176 LN

The new UA reissue 1176 seems to actually sound better (cleaner, prettier) to me than most of the old blackfaces I've heard. But then again, these old blackfaces were not in pristine condition at...

Re: guitar amps?

You may not think it, but Mesa Triple Rectifiers have a very big, rich clean sound, even through their 4x12 cabs.

Re: What is the best sounding record ever made?

Depends on my mood, but here are my favorites in no particular order.

Tool - AEnima -- It's unbelievable how many subtle sonic cues are going on in this record. It keeps you on your toes and...

Re: what is your favorite snare reverb processor?

My reverb processor of choice is often a simple expander. I will put the expander on the room mics and trigger it from the snare and toms, and in some cases on the kick if it's a drum intro. This...

Re: Aux Busses 48bit Math?

Yes, but not before going to 24 bits for TDM processing. The signal that becomes the resultant of the aux buss is reduced to 24 bits until the gain coefficient bumps it back to 48 bits where it gets...

Re: waves master dither.

It's really quite simple actually. The TDM inserts are restricted to 24 bits. This means that all plugins must have both a 24 bit input and a 24 bit output. This does not mean that the plugins...

Re: digi Please HELP-D/A without switch/mixer degrade sound without MasterFader at Unity?

I've never used one, but I'd grab a Coleman product that everyone here seems to suggest. For now, I've been using a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro for over 2 years and it has been rock solid, is ultra quiet,...

Re: digi Please HELP-D/A without switch/mixer degrade sound without MasterFader at Unity?

Will you be losing bits? Well, in a way yes. Quite simply, you will lose dynamic range, and thus your monitoring quality will degrade. Now if your levels are reasonable, it might be okay, but I'd...
