Re: Any way to create Aggregate MIDI Input devices?

Not sure you have anything to worry about to be honest. I have a whole host of external synths, controllers, sequencers, Maschine, MIDI to CV converter etc. all connected via USB and usually a LOT of...

Re: Anyone using large orchestra templates?

Sounds like I’m preaching to the choir here and you know exactly what you’re doing!

I must check out Composer Tools Pro.

I also hate having countless articulations spread across countless...

Re: Anyone using large orchestra templates?

I think I’ve understood! I see Mind Control is a Multi Scipt used to switch articulations within a Kontakt Instrument Bank in various clever ways and what you’re trying to do is have multiple...

Re: Anyone using large orchestra templates?

Iím using PT with VE Pro and a large template without issue. Itís super solid here so my inclination would be thereís an issue with Mind Control.

Have you looked into Kontakt Multi Scripts?...

Re: OWC dock data transfer rate

A much used option amongst composers using Kontakt is the Black Magic Multidock. It certainly works VERY well here with polyphony counts in the thousands and there are plenty of modern libraries...

Re: NI layoffs & restructuring

Spitfire is still releasing new Kontakt libraries. The last, a new organ library, just a couple of weeks ago. There have been others this year.

Re: Avid S1 & S4

I’m sure Avid has done its market research and produced something leasing companies will happily fund. That said, I can’t help thinking the S4 should have been something entirely different....

Re: New Mac Pro

Also running at 4k60 here and PT 2019.5 is STILL horribly laggy unless I run it in low resolution - which looks very nasty and is hard to read.

Re: 6-core vs. 12-core MacPro w/ ProTools

The VE Pro app itself uses multiple cores but does the VE Pro plug-in in PT do so too, or for that matter any other single plug-in instance? My point is I do get VE Pro CPU spikes on my trashcan 12...

Re: 6-core vs. 12-core MacPro w/ ProTools

I have a 12 core trashcan and itís starting to show itís age. Iím not sure an individual VI or an instance of VE Pro can spread its load across multiple cores. In other words, with a demanding...

Re: New Mac Pro

It looks like these are the processors in the Cheesegrater v2.

Re: New Mac Pro

Of course itís expensive but is it overpriced relative to the competition? Iím not sure it is.

Iíve just looked and an Avid qualified dual 14 core HP Z8 costs nearly £11.5k GB, a dual 18 core...

Re: Using VEP6 with two Macs to offload CPU ??

Bit late to this but I think you need to ask if this actually worth doing. The MacBook Pro is VERY under-specíd for running as a VE Pro server. I tried using a 2013 MBP with 16GB RAM and a quad core...

Re: NI Kontakt 6 - how many cores?

I think this preference has been available for some time in Kontakt. In my experience it doesn’t make ANY difference because Pro Tools can’t effectively spread the load of one instance of a plug-in...

Re: using S6 faders for midi CC

Eddie
Is this still off the roadmap? I know last time I asked you a year or so ago there was just me and one other person who had asked for it!

Re: 12.8.2

Definitely another good Ďun. A few little niggles but generally very solid with some welcome MIDI enhancements.

Re: Boxes in front of Midi information

At a guess I would say your m-audio controller is sending out double notes, maybe because two zones are enabled or something. I used to do this by accident a lot with my old keystation 88

Re: Can Pro Tools Do Automtion Curves?

Exactly. Cubase works the same way.

What I could really use is breakpoint based MIDI automation.

Re: Pro Tools 12.5 is utter garbage and I wish I'd stayed on 11.3.1

I would concur that 10.10.5 was a great OS X. 10.12.5 is just as good if not better and certainly more snappy and responsive.

I found PT12.5 pretty nasty too and went back to 11.3.1 or whatever...

Re: HDX card fan

Yes please post back. My HDX card's default mode is for the fans to be on! In my case it's simply the presence of VE Pro instances in a session that sets off the fan.

Re: HDX card fan

You're talking about the xMac Pro Server that also houses the Mac right?

There is obviously a fan on the HDX card but before that triggers, (I'm pretty sure it's a temperature sensitive,) the two...

Re: Show/Hide tracks with data possible with PT

I wouldn't say that was easy compared to a keyboard command that instantly "hides unused tracks" like there is in Logic if I remember correctly. Personally I'd find selecting the object tool, making...

Re: Show/Hide tracks with data possible with PT

No not possible I'm afraid. Would be nice though and I think Logic can do this.

I have a large template too. Whenever I add data to a track, I drag it up to the top of the session so all the...
