Confused about Perpetual Licenses for Educators/Students

Avid still has this "Perpetual License" offer at $299 for Educators/Students.

Is this correct? Is this like having the Perpetual licenses of the past? (i.e. PT 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 up to 12.5.2)

Upgrading From PT10 Academic. Which Do I Get? (Confused)

I just want to have Pro Tools on my new Mac. My PT10 I assume was a perpetual license. I can't upgrade to 11 it looks like (using Yosemite), so have to go to 12.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I really have to update my signature. I sold my MBox, Digi 002 and MBox Micro years ago. I've been using a Kontrol Audio from NI because of the Multi Client capability....

Yep! I'm actually getting it for storage, but I was able to record many tracks to the one I had installed in my Lenovo. That one was 256GB, 95MB/s and worked wonders.

This is the sole reason I'll have to make the exchange. If there was a Quad Core option on the 13", I'd keep it in a heart beat.

Sad that even the 3.0gHz Dual Core w/Turbo boost still isn't good...

Appreciate the reply. The 16GB 15" model they sell comes with a 512GB SSD for $1899. I bought my 13" Mac for $1499 from B&H yesterday.

I might exchange it for the 15" today.
