Re: And in other ”news” Waves are having a fire sale ... $29 for ”all” plugins ..

Strip Silence has always worked for me better than Waves' (not realtime though)

Re: HD Native Thunderbolt Clarification

HDN is fully native as far as mixer and plugins goes, the only difference between other non-HDX systems is two DigiLink connectors which give it 64 i/o -- oh, and the box has hardware for mirroring...

Re: Upgrading to HDX, lots of options!

Hi.

Many are thinking that older computers like 10.8.5 & 12.4 (pre cloud collab) the best. Whatever you do, avoid El Cap (10.11.x) at all cost.

I would connect both Lynx to the primary port and...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Let's not repeat this thread all over again -- Long story short: I've said I was expecting to have Mojave support last year and I didn't get it why Avid didn't release 2019.1 with it (Mojave support)...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Yes I am.

Point being end of an era (PT5/OS9 and PT8/DigiDesign) is always more stable than ongoing development. As far as I see it, PT11 (64bit) was just like PT6 (OSX) and while it took until...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Go back to PTHD 8.1.1 and any hardware capable of running then-current OS and stability is on a totally different level -- of course, that was the last release which required DigiDesign branded...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Assuming your HW/OS/PT is a supported combination, this would lead me to think you have installed an incompatible plugin. Even one can cause problems.

And it only needs to be loaded into memory to...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

I fail to see your point. Say every Avid customer pays 400 each year and every Apple customer pays 200 one time, so why do you think Avid would not find their customers interesting? We're only...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Apple thinks a one-time $199 customer is interesting, why would you think Avid doesn't value a customer that pays more every year? Apple of course don't have to develop for Windows, and can integrate...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Maybe such company wouldn't have resources to build, support and develop hardware such as S6 and HDX which are essential for their top spending customers?

Since introduction of Pro Control (1998)...

Re: 32bit to 64bit message

Yes, compatible (working) and supported are two different things. What we do know is next release whenever that is out will have Mojave support.

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Yes and no.

AAXDSP and TDM and any DSP system adds latency as you go, meaning more plugins more latency.

The marketing hype of zero latency of HDX means very near zero latency of the mixer...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

No prob.

Generally speaking anyone making AAXDSP are kind of on par because of the limitations and those who choose not to / cannot make AAXDSP are making such compromises with their algorithms...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Pro Expander and Pro Compressor kind of replaced Drawmer TDM and Rane TDM, because those two were the only gates that didn't click on percussive materials, and compressed as you assume hardware does...

Re: Anyone tried external SSD for Pro Tools sessions?

Any kind of storage can fail and nothing is backed up until it's backed up twice.

SSD are failing due to excess writes to individual transistors, but are virtually bulletproof when it comes to...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

How would the plugins run on DigiCo consoles if not on some kind of DSP, tell me that? No. Because of no DSP onboard, Waves needs external DSP box they call SoundGrid and that's their solution. Any...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

They have given very little information but have made a point that their SSL Channel showed "marginal increase" in plugin count TDM vs. AAXDSP (so if they can demo one of their most complex plugins...

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

That's pretty much what everyone is thinking. And full price of DSP means 200% compared to full price 100% of native. Now they are in the 10% bargain bin.

Re: Pro Tools 2019 !

Their own DSP platform was nonexistent before that decision. The original APA boxes are truly doorstops in every meaning of the word. They saw a chance to get into DSP market and tried it, only...
