Sounds like you made a good choice on the Opteron 165.
The Corsair XMS may or may not overclock well.
You will just have to try it.

Both will give the about the same perfomance at stock speeds.
The Opteron 165 will Overclock better with the right memory easily to 2.4 GHZ!

Pro Tools will not run on XP Professional x64.
There are also no hardware drivers available for 64 bit Operating Systems yet.

So Standard 32-bit Windows Xp Professional or Home are the only two...

Hey Nick,

That's what I kind of figured.
The Nvidia firewall has never worked quit right and should be avoided.
The motherboard drivers at Nvidia are under, "Platform/ Nvidia Drivers".

The 32 stands for 2 x PCI-E x16 with SLI™ support at full x16, x16 mode

The CPU and that Motherboard WILL NOT work together.
You can not put a 939 pin CPU in a 940 socket which is what that Motherboard has.

Yes the BIOS found at the DFI website is correct.
There is a Beta BIOS at the DFI website that is newer but it doesn't help any with this setup so i would stick the latest offical...

Your BIOS is set correct.
3 things could be going on.

1)Bad cable, router, or modem. (If you are using this for internet.)

2)Bad LAN socket on the motherboard.
