what version of protools are you running?
if your running 5.x.x go to your mac system folder, preferences, then drag to the trash your protools 5.x.x prefs, empty trash and reboot.

The studio I work at has procontrol and I think it's completely unecessary..it's basically a fancy mouse..
the most use Ive gotten out of it is nice "master fader" fades..and ocassionaly automating...

then you'll probably have the system that will be the fastest and most stable and most importantly, it will last...
